New Cars + #YOLOmondays Link-Up!

A few weeks ago, I asked your opinion on used SUVs. Husband and I have been on the hunt for months for a new car for me, but hadn’t actually stepped foot on a car lot. We had done a bunch of research online and gotten an idea of what we were looking for.

Well, this weekend we finally went looking and ended up snagging a GREAT deal!

We were looking for a:

  • USED SUV
  • That was safe, roomy, and practical
  • That was in our budget of $14,000 (we saved for months and wanted to pay cash)
  • That had an Auxiliary Audio Jack and a sunroof (well, those were my stipulations)

And we came across a great deal! Long story, short, I finally said goodbye to my sweet Lucy the VW Rabbit this weekend:

Lucy and I had been through a lot together! I graduated college with her, moved to North Carolina with her, got married with her… it was bittersweet. But the truth is, she wasn’t practical anymore. A baby and dogs would never fit in Lucy.

But alas, we found a GREAT deal on a 2008 Honda CR-V – and best part about it? It’s Carolina blue! AND it has a sunroof. AND an auxiliary jack! AND we own it! Hooray! Win. Win. Win! So, we traded in my old VW and drove off the lot with a CR-V.

And of course, I HAD to throw my newhope magnet on the back right away!

  2. Congrats on the new car!!! Hondas are awesome – my first one was my mom’s old car – she drove it for 7 years and then I drove it for another 7 before I sold it for $2K with nearly 200,000 miles on it. I’m now driving my second one that I’ve had for 6 years!! 🙂

  5. I had a Honda CRV once and I LOVED it!!! I never had one issue with that thing! It was possibly my favorite car that I ever owned! So happy for you!

  13. I gave up my beloved car of 8 years early last summer…and ended up with a Honda Accord. I love it! Hondas weren’t really on my radar (we were pretty Toyota loyal), but it really is the best car for me. Enjoy your new ride!

  14. Congrats on the new “mommy car” – we were so glad to have gotten rid of our a few years ago. Unfortunately we were out yesterday looking for a car for our son – check my post, and it’s not an exciting adventure.

  29. We were car shopping this weekend too! I think we are going to get the Mazda CX-9 — and we ALSO name our car!!! The old one is Juicy, probably going to name this one Juicy 2…as per my son’s instructions! I’ve been naming my cars forever…thought I was the only one!

  34. yeah for getting a new car! and how great that you were able to pay for it in cash! we were lucky enough to do that with our car too – and it’s so nice to have car payments – i plan on keeping it that way! 🙂 and so excited to see my post up there – thank you! 🙂

  35. First off Thank you for the New Mom Jeans mention! What a nice surprise before I drink my coffee this morning. 🙂 Second I LOVE CR-V’s and would so have that be my mom car if I didn’t need the minivan to take the dogs to the shows occasionally! Isn’t it the best feeling walking in with cash and paying for your car? We just did that in October and it was awesome. We own both our cars and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Congrats on the perfect {mom} car, it’s awesome!
