Making Memories
I have mentioned a time or two recently that I’ve been really wanting to be more intentional with my time. I want to be spending time on things that matter, things that are important. I want to be making memories with my family, with my friends. Even if it’s doing something silly or simple like going blueberry picking or giving Lilly her first frozen fruit bar, those memories are important to me. Because I’ve been reminded so much recently at how fleeting life really is and how absolutely precious is each day that we’ve been gifted.
Earlier this week, my best friend Dani, her daughter Elle (who is two months older than Lilly), Lilly and I went to a little farm down the road to do some blueberry picking and have a little relaxing, morning play date.
Warning… this is a “berry” picture heavy post. BAHA! Oh man, I crack myself up. There was just too much cuteness I couldn’t narrow it down!
Dani and Elle picking their blueberries.
Lilly LOVED eating the blueberries!
Picking blueberries! #getinthepicture.
After we were done picking blueberries, we headed over to the little pond area to let the kids run around. Well, Elle ran around. Lilly just crawled around and ate grass. Well, she didn’t eat the grass, but she sure tried to.
Now, it was SUPER hot morning and I brought some of my absolute FAVORITE Fruttare frozen fruit bars to have as a little post-blueberry picking cool treat.
Let me tell you about these things. Last spring (as in spring 2013) when I was pregnant, I had gotten a sample of a Fruttare frozen fruit bar when I was walking around a grocery store and with one bite, I was in absolute heaven. I became OBSESSED with Fruttare frozen fruit bars. Literally.
I ate one almost EVERY SINGLE DAY of my third trimester of pregnancy. I would crave them like crazy. Don’t believe me? I even shared an Instagram last summer of one because I loved them so much.
I could go on and on.
Seeing as how they are my favorite cool, frozen delicious treat, I got to try some of their new flavors and I wanted Lilly to have her first one, too! They’re all natural and made with real fruit and don’t have a ton of preservatives or stuff like that. Plus, since Lilly is teething soooo badly lately I thought that she might enjoy it.
I got the black cherry ice flavor and my gracious is it good.
I wasn’t quite sure what Lilly would do with it though. It’s not like she’s ever had one before… At first, she didn’t really know what to think.
Then, she decided to go for it… and went in for the big bite.
Pretty much right away I could tell she was a fan.
Elle wanted to try one, too. Except Elle is a much, MUCH neater and cleaner eater than Lilly. Lilly pretty much bathes in her food. Elle is much more dainty and didn’t want to get super messy. It was hilarious!
Lilly beginning to make a massive mess with her frozen fruit bar.
Her faces during the whole thing were cracking me up.
Dani and Elle enjoying their fruit bar, too!
Sweet Elle. Gosh, those eyes are killer.
Lilly EXTREMELY happy about the mess and the delciousness. Elle running around playing… sweet girl!
After Elle finished with hers, she decided she wanted more so she came over to see if her BFF Lilly would give her some…
Lilly was happy to oblige her friend and share. Haha!! I die over the cuteness…
PSYCH!! Hahaha Lilly immediately decided that she no longer wanted to share… hahaha
Then I got to have one, too. And get in some kisses from my sweet, totally messy girl.
This picture absolutely cracks me up. I love her face and the complete mess.
So, needless to say, I’m still a BIG fan of the Fruttare frozen fruit bars… and pretty much will eat one every day. I think Lilly, Dani, and Elle were big fans, too. But, even moreso, I’m a big fan of these sweet mornings just spending time with friends and laughing watching our girls grow before our eyes.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… I am so, so, so blessed to have a best friend like Dani and the fact that we have two little girls so close in age is so awesome. We are able to go through so much of life together now and I feel like I have someone to turn to when I have a question or have no idea if I’m doing this “motherhood” thing right. You know?
We’re both trying to do everything we can to take the time to get out from behind our computers, from behind our desks, and live life with each other and with our babies. Even something as simple as going blueberry picking, enjoying a frozen treat, and letting the babies run around in the grass is something I’ll never forget.
