Y’all know I love makeup. I love playing with makeup. I love experimenting with makeup. I love how makeup can make a woman feel. I love how the right makeup can really enhance a woman’s natural beauty. It’s not about covering up or being someone else, it’s about just enhancing what God already gave you!
Now, admittedly, I don’t always have a TON of time to do a FULL face of makeup. I shared earlier this spring my “5 minute makeup tutorial” for moms or women on the go which you can check out here. But, I always feel a little bit more put together and more motivated to take on my day when I at least have a little something on. When I don’t have ANY makeup on, I just feel a tad bit on the frumpy side. You know what I mean?
Anyway, since it’s summertime, I’ve been staying away from being SUPER done up and going for a lot of my favorite drugstore makeup and wearing a super quick and easy look. Walgreens is pretty much my go-to for (all the things!) but really, all my drugstore makeup. Racking up rewards, buy one get one deals, sweet coupons, and an awesome selection. All. The. Time. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s literally like a mile from my house. Can we say, dangerous? 🙂
Well, I wanted to share with y’all my recent go-to makeup look for summertime that is all really focused on just enhancing your natural beauty!
I realize this looks like a ton of products used, but it really isn’t. I promise. 🙂 And I also will tell you that this entire routine takes LESS than five minutes to do! So. Easy. So, here are the goods used for this look (NOTE: ALL of these products can be purchased at Walgreens!):
FOR THE FACE: I used my new favorite Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I love this because it’s super lightweight and really evens out my skintone. To hide dark circles, I used my also new favorite Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer. And to set everything, I used the Rimmel London Stay Matte powder. I just picked this powder up as a recommendation from a few friends and so far I’m loving it! I love the Stay Matte foundation so I was excited to try the powder.
So, to start I just applied my BB cream. Left is BEFORE with no makeup on at all, right is with just the BB cream on. It really tones down my redness.
Next up, I do the eyes. (Concealing and setting comes later). I do the eyes earlier so that I can clean up any fall out. Now, you could skip the eyes if you REALLY want to go au natural, but I like eyeshadow, so I go for neutral colors.
For my eyes, I am using my favorite L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in Iced Latte and Taupe and for my base I’m using the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool.
I just applied the Maybelline Color Tattoo base all over my lid to serve as my “primer.” I love this stuff! It’s great to wear on it’s own, but SO pretty as a base.
I then, with my finger, applied the Iced Latte color all over my lid as well, just patting it in lightly.
Then, I take the Taupe color and with a fluffy crease brush, lightly brush the Taupe color into the outer corner of my eye and blend it across my crease. These Infallible Eyeshadows are really pigmented, so I go super light and build up as I go depending on what I want to have as the final look.
The eyes:
Now is when I will go ahead and conceal my under eye area and clean up any fall out. I just rub the concealer and then pat in with my ring finger.
Next up is strangely my favorite part: my eyebrows! I realize I need to do a whole post on brows, which will come. But for now, here’s what I used for this.
I am in LOVE with the Milani brow products.
To start, I get my cray cray eyebrows under control with the Milani Brow Shaping Clear Wax recommended by LeSalon. This just holds everything in place. Then, with the Milani brow pencil in Blonde I just fill in my eyebrows. It’s that easy!
The left picture is just one eyebrow filled in… you can see what a difference it makes. The right picture is BOTH eyebrows filled in.
Next up comes the highlighting. I am using the Milani Brow and Eye highlight pencil and using the matte end, just trace my brows and pat it in with my finger to highlight my brows and browbone.
Now it’s time to line the waterline.
PRO TIP: Use a nude liner on your water line, like this Rimmel London ScandalEyes eyeliner in NUDE. This makes your eyes look bigger and more awake!
MASCARA TIME! My favorite!!! (After brows, of course.) 🙂
I just recently picked up the Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Volum Express mascara from Walgreens and so far I am loving it! You know how much I am obsessed with mascara.
If you want to go really natural, get a brown mascara. But, I loveeee mascara and I love bold lashes, so I got black.
Applying mascara like a boss.
Now that my eyes and brows are done, time to go in and set all the things with my Stay Matte powder. I just used a fluffy face brush to apply it all across my face. I love this powder because it really keeps everything in place and also keeps me matte even when I get sweaty… it’s summertime in North Carolina, y’all. It gets hot!
Now, since it is summertime and since I am PALE, I use a bronzer AND a blush to give me a more summertime natural glow.
I’m using the Revlon matte bronzer in Bronzilla and my absolute FAVORITE blush by Milani in Luminoso.
I just applied the bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks and the blush to the apples of my cheeks and then blended together. The key here is blend, blend, blend.
Now it’s time for LIPS! I have heard amazing things about the new Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain lip glosses (or is it a lip stain?) and I picked on up from Walgreens to try. I have pretty naturally “pinky” lips, so I got the color Cannes Crush which I thought was a really pretty pinky coral color that was just a little bit darker and bolder than my natural lip color.
And this is me applying the aforementioned lip color:
And here’s the final before and after. Left is no makeup at all… right is the completed look.
Again, it seems like it takes a long time, but it really takes less than five minutes and is so easy! I also just love how it’s sort of that “no makeup, makeup look.” Know what I mean?
Oh, and for all you fellow drugstore, Walgreens beauty lovers, Walgreens is having an awesome promotion “Gift With Purchase” offer right now which runs between 6/29 – 8/30 and allows you to get a coupon by texting a code or visiting this link for a FREE travel-size make-up brush set with any $20 beauty and personal care purchase (excluding baby category). How awesome is that?
So, what do you think? Will you try this look? What drugstore beauty products are YOU loving lately? Any that I need to check out?
Thanks for reading!
