Gift Ideas for the Hard-to-Buy-For Person on Your List + Giveaway!
Every year when the holiday season comes around, there are those few people on my list that I am left scratching my head as to what in the what I am going to get them! You know exactly who I’m talking about… the person who either has everything, is super picky, or is just really hard to buy for! *cough cough* myhusband *cough cough* So, I’m ALWAYS looking for places to find unique Christmas gift ideas, gift ideas that are a little “wacky,” fun stocking stuffers, or gift ideas that are just really fun and different.
A few years ago I discovered Uncommon Goods and, literally, EVERY YEAR I come back to that site to buy gifts for the friends and family members on my list who are so tough to buy for.
What makes Uncommon Goods even MORE cool though (outside of the fact that they have a SERIOUSLY amazing selection of gifts for ANYONE on your list), is that they work so hard to feature really unique designs and handcrafted gifts that are environmentally friendly and were made or produced without ANY harm to animals or people. HALF of what they sell is made totally by hand and is ethically sourced… and most comes from right here in the USA! Also, about one-third of their collection incorporates upcycled and / or recycled materials. So they work hard to take care of their suppliers, but they also work hard to take care of their own. I learned that their LOWEST paid seasonal works starts at 50% ABOVE the minimum wage. Also, they take care of the community around them… for EVERY purchase you make, they donate $1 to the non-profit of your choice… and to date they’ve donated over $300,000 to charities around the world. So cool. I love that!
I got to personally check out a couple gifts this year… one for “her” and one for “the kids” (aka: I’m totally giving it to Lilly! I LOVE IT!)
This Upcycled Indonesian Batik Bag is absolutely gorgeous. The detailing in it is stunning and it’s HUGE. It could seriously fit, like, EVERYTHING in this bag. It’s the perfect gift for that quirky lady on your list who loves unique, handmade items… but also has A LOT of stuff to carry around. It could also be used as a shopping bag!
And these Nursery Rhyme Blocks are the cutest thing ever. They have nursery rhymes on each one and I was totally singing them along in my head when I was looking at them for the first time. They’re such a sweet gift, but also a perfect alternative to traditional alphabet blocks.
And here are a few more really fun and unique gift ideas from Uncommon Goods for the man, woman, or kiddo on your list:
Gifts for Her (Under $30!)
Owl Bowls | Wine Pairings Towel Set | What I Love About You (By Me) Book | Sari Makeup Bag
Gifts for Him (Under $30!)
Ticket Stub Diary | Dad’s Playbook | Soup and Sandwich Platter | Golf Grilling Set
Gifts for the Kids (Under $31!)
Make Your Own Mask Kit | Vegetable Garden Teethers | lowercase alphabet blocks | Make Your Own Snow Globe
How cute are all of those? And so many unique ideas! I love how there’s really no two gifts that are alike and everything is really fun and different.
Which ones are your favorite? Which gifts would you like?

Oh I would love to get the Desktop Bowling! Fun!
I’d love to get the stoneware growler for Scott!
I ADORE Uncommon Goods! I tell people about it all the time because there are such amazing products available. I have the scratch map in our office, and one of my favorite gifts to give is Elwood the Unicorn Mug. I gave him to my husband for our last anniversary and he got such a kick out of it. Oh man, I have so many Christmas items for friends and family already saved in my wishlist, and that gift card would go a long way.
I’d get one of those yarn bowls, I think. One of my goals is to learn how to knit, so I can make chunky scarves and socks for everyone! 🙂 (emiliec1111 at hotmail dot com)
Such an awesome site! I found multiple things to get people for Christmas that are unique. I think my mom will love the blue / purple sari scarf.
I love the scratch map!
Your blog is the best! I love the nursery rhyme blocks!!!
That soup and sandwich platter is amazing. I’m honestly so sick of the typical gift guides (which don’t work for most of my family members) but the Uncommon Goods site has such great ideas! The face mug! A mug that has a place for cookies? Awesome. And the whiskey wedge! Or the tasting plate! Man, I could spend so much time on this website.
My brother asked for the Table Topics cards for Christmas so I would get those for him 🙂
I really want one of those coin-scratch-off world maps! SO awesome.
I have a few people that are IMPOSSIBLE to buy for so this seems like a great idea!
Fun giveaway!! I would do the alpha blocks for my newphew 🙂
I like the Kisa
cat
candle! But it would be hard to choose, so many cool things!
