This past weekend, John and I headed up to Washington D.C. for the wedding of one of my college sorority sisters! (She’s my grand-little in my Phi Mu family! :)) We had such a great time and it was a nice little 20 hour getaway from home. Plus, I love getting to see college friends and catch up… no matter how long it’s been since we’ve seen each other, it’s always like we are able to pick up right where we left off.

The other really fun thing was it was a black tie wedding (READ: a GORGEOUS, STUNNING black tie wedding at the Four Seasons in Georgetown!! Be sure to check out Abby Grace Photography’s blog this week for her GORGEOUS images of the wedding…) and so we got to get really gussied up for the evening – which is always a blast. I definitely don’t own anything fancy enough for a black tie wedding, so I went to my trusty friend Rent the Runway to find a dress to wear! Rent the Runway - Slate and Willow "Copper Fleur Shift Dress"

Initially, I was on the hunt for a gorgeous, floor-length gown, but when I stumbled upon this Slate & Willow shift dress, I fell in LOVE. Totally different than anything I’ve worn before – plus, it was also fancy enough for a wedding at the Four Seasons!

I felt beautiful in this dress all night and I got so many compliments on it! I also loved wearing my blue heels to pull out some of the blue from the sequins in the dress… they’re my favorite heels and any excuse I have to wear them is a good excuse in my book. 🙂

  7. Molly you rocked this dress! I love how you added the blue shoes. I would of never thought to do this, but it looks so great together. I have a wedding coming up in August and will need to look into using Rent the Runway for a dress.

  38. It’s a stunner of a dress, and completely black-tie appropriate. I have always tended to wear long dresses for black-tie events, but I think something like this dress is equally chic and glamorous. I bet you felt like a million dollars! Thanks for hosting x
