Rustic Rub & Homemade Pizza Sauce
Ladies and gents, let me introduce you to the Rustic Rub (there’s a pizza sauce recipe here, too. It’s at the bottom).
The rustic rub? It’s going to change your seasoning life.
This rub is totally a recipe my sister gave me, but I have since made myself MANY, MANY batches. It’s good on shrimp, chicken, veggies, steak, pizza, ANYTHING. It’s so good. And the smell. It smells like heaven.
Woo doggies.
Now, you’re going to need this rub for TOMORROW’S recipe. Okay? Get ready.
Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 8 Tbs Paprika
- 3 Tbs Cayenne Pepper
- 5 Tbs Freshly ground black pepper
- 6 tbs Garlic Powder
- 3 tbs onion powder
- 6 tbs salt
- 2 1/2 tbs dried oregano
- 2 1/2 tbs dried thyme
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. blend well. The rub can be stored in an airtight container in your spice cabinet for up to 3-6 months (depending on how often you use)
It make 2 cups. 🙂

HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE:
- 1 can diced tomatoes (drain the juice out – it’s extra good if you use Italian seasoned diced tomatoes)
- Garlic powder
- Salt & pepper
- Pizza seasoning (on most spice racks – but if you don’t have, just use more oregano, parsley, etc.)
- Oregano
- Basil
Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender and taste as you go to determine the amount of seasonings. Remember to start small with each and increase as you go. NOMNOMNOM.
This pizza sauce recipe is going to come in handy tomorrow. I’m just saying.
Let me know what you think! And check back tomorrow for an awesome recipe that will call for both of these things!
Oooh that sounds AMAZING!!!
