Ehrmahgerd Rerd Berts! (Translation: Oh my gosh, Red Boots)
{{Boots: Boot Barn c/o
{{Dress: LOFT (old, similar)
{{Sweater: Old Navy
Although the title of this posts suggests, the actual text within this post has nothing to do with red boots. The photos do, but the text does not. Sometimes I like to share an outfit with you and really make no comments about it. I mean, you can see the photos yourself. I don’t really need to ‘splain myself. Right? Right.
Anyway. Rambling.
So, I was reading my daily devotional yesterday and read this scripture:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” -Philippians 3:12
Then, somehow later that day, I came across this quote:
“The harder I work, the luckier I get.” -Samuel Goldwyn
I have goals. Lots of them. I have ideas. Lots of them. I have dreams. Lots of them. But ultimately, through those goals and ideas and dreams, I’m trying to sift through and figure out what is it exactly God put me on this earth to do?
I truly believe, within my heart of hearts, that we were all made for a purpose. We are all here with gifts and talents – and we should use them for good. Some people have a “calling.”
I’ve talked a lot on this blog about my struggle to find my real purpose or figure out what God has “called” me to do. And I guess it’s just been on my mind a lot lately – not for any particular reason.
And maybe that’s the nudge of the Holy Spirit saying, “Okay, I’m up here trying to point you in the right direction, but there you are being all stubborn and whatnot totally ignoring me.” Of course I’m not ignoring Him, my ears are just clogged. Or something.
Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say through ALL this rambling is, I don’t think there’s ever going to be a clear message from above saying, “Go, child. Do this. Exactly this. And nothing else.” You know, whatever that may be. But, I do think that those goals, ideas, dreams, nudges, “tugs” from the Holy Spirit, or whatever you want to call them, are the channels that look towards our ultimate vision. That vision may not totally be clear, but it’s there and we can see it – albeit fuzzy, but we’re starting to make it out.
But it’s not going to just happen. We’ve got to press on. We’ve got to keep working harder than the next guy. We’ve got to keep getting better. We’ve got to keep making mistakes and getting back up. Because eventually, the vision becomes clearer and we reach our destination.
Was that too deep for a Thursday?
Anyway. If you’ve made it this far, there’s a reward for you here at the end…
So I sort of fibbed when I said that the text had NOTHING to do with the red boots, because this section kind of does. Y’all know how much I LOVE my Shyanne boots from Boot Barn. I wear them a lot. Like, a lot. Well, there’s a PRETTY sweet giveaway – a $150 shopping spree to BOOT BARN, to be exact, happening on my Facebook page. Yeah, it’s a Facebook exclusive. So, check it out!

Yes, we all have a calling. God may not be calling us to far away lands, but He is absolutely calling us to serve our neighbors, our workplace, and our communities. Not too deep for a Thursday. Well said, Merlly! 😉

I LOVE your boots and I love the title of the post 🙂 And this was such an inspiring post…I know I struggle with the same thing…figuring out my plan, etc, I think most of us do, and it’s great to have a reminder to keep working toward the plan, whatever it may be 🙂
Annie
thank you so much, annie <3
I hear ya. There are times when I feel so lost, I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing and I wonder what direction I’m supposed to head. It does all seem to become clear after some time (usually after the fact) 🙂 But like you, I just keep pressing on. I do notice that the more faith I have, the more positivity and optimism I have, the more things turn out well. Not always, but a lot of the time. 🙂
hindsight is 20/20. am i right? thank you, niki!!
I like the deep thoughts. I struggle with this, as well. I also truly believe God has a path for each of us. We all have our own unique talents/gifts/blessings for a purpose. Knowing what that purpose is, though? Oh my gosh. Hardest thing ever. If only God could send an email… 😉
thank you, lacey! i’m so glad i’m not the only one!
I know exactly what you mean! All I’ve been trying to do lately is figure out what to do with my life. Sometimes it seems like there’ll just never be a right fit. But I do agree that every time I explore something my vision at the end of the tunnel gets clearer. Even now that I’m officially pushing forward with my blog and working harder, I feel more at ease, like it’s all starting to make a little more sense.
I have faith that as long as we push ourselves forward, work hard, and remain open to the gentle guidance from above, we will find our true place in life<3
amen to that, niki!! i’m so glad you’re starting to feel more at ease. you get ’em girl!
I love the thoughts today. What you said is so true. I think if we pray about where we are supposed to be and what we are supposed to do God has his subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways of pointing us in the right direction. I’ve even been struggling with something before and the message at church will address my exact question or a conversation with another faithful person will allow me to hear what I need to hear. We have to keep our minds and eyes open because like you said we never get a “do this and that.” God is good 🙂 (Love the outfit too, the red boots are so unique!)
thank you so much, rebecca!! the more we center on Him, the clearer the picture becomes, i believe.
Definitely digging the subtle red+green here Molly – so cute!
Sea and Swank
thanks, susie!!
In your own words, I LURVE the boots 😉 seriously, so cute!
But I lurve your thoughts too!! I used to get just SO frusterated not knowing/hearing what God was telling me to do…totally thought if I listened hard enough it would be the whole “do exactly this” senario! I completely agree with you to keep pressing forward!! I really need that encouragement, sometimes you just get tired…not an excuse though! THANK YOU for your thoughts, whatever the Lord has in store for you in the future, know that he is using you now, today, on your blog. 🙂
thank you so much, tracy!! and it can be SO frustrating to just be patient. right?
Haha, I love the title of this post, totally gave me a good chuckle. The red boots are pretty fabulous!
xo, Yi-chia
Always Maylee
thanks, yi-chia!
Not too deep for a Thursday! I have felt the same way ever since college when I never could find the THING I was meant to do or be. I started realizing that for some (most?) people our purpose doesn’t come in a grand revelation but in bits and pieces as we grow and change. My dreams and goals are so different now than they were five or six years ago…. thank God!!!
AMEN to that!! i praise God for change!
The title of this post is killing me hahahah I half expected to see a photoshopped photo of the girl with your face on it or something! Love those boots, Molly!
hahahahaha i totally should have done that. missed opportunity right there.
You and your amazing collection of adorable cowboy boots. I showed my mom a few of your posts with your boots and she was smitten! (She”s a huge cowboy fanatic, she adores them and thinks you have some really beautiful pairs.) I don’t know if we ever really get a good kick in the butt in the right direction, I think you summed it up pretty well with just working hard, eventually life will either point you in the right direction or opportunities present themselves.
awww katie! you are so sweet. thank you!! 🙂 and that couldn’t be more true.
So happy I found your blog! I’m loving all the looks I’m seeing. Newest follower 🙂
