I love Christmas. I would probably say Christmas is my favorite holiday. As soon as Christmas is over, I’m already yearning for NEXT Christmas.
It’s not about the presents or anything like that, I just love this time of year. I love the JOY in the air. I love the twinkly lights, I love hot chocolate, I love warm fires, I love good meals, I love spending time with family and friends. I love, love, love Christmas.
I was thinking about how this being my first Christmas as a newlywed, I was wondering what traditions husband and I will have. What we’ll start having. Or whathaveyou.
We had a Christmas party with some friends this year. I’d like that to be a tradition.
But, who knows what the future will bring and what other traditions we’ll start.
Some of my favorite traditions when I was a kid – EVERY Christmas Eve, without question, we’d open ONE present and then we’d all get in our jammies with a cup of hot cocoa and we’d hop in the back of my mom’s station wagon and we’d go drive around and look at Christmas lights. I loved that. Some of my favorite memories took place those nights.
I loved waking up at like 3am every Christmas and RUSHING downstairs to see the presents Santa left under the tree and then having to wait to wake up my parents so we could open them.
I remember always having at least like 15 or 20 people over for Christmas dinner – we’d always invite people who didn’t have family or didn’t have a place to go on Christmas – and our house was always full of food and laughter on Christmas day.
I remember wearing really tacky Christmas sweaters with my mom. She always one-upped me though. Hers would make noise and light up and stuff.
I remember being eight years old and totally convinced I heard Santa on our roof.
It’s been an awesome 27 years of Christmas and I can’t wait to see what the next 27+ years bring.
What are some of YOUR favorite Christmas or holiday traditions?

NOW it is time for the #YOLOmondays LINK-UP with my awesome co-host Carly from Lipgloss & Crayons! We had 109 AMAZING bloggers link up last week and I could not be more excited to “meet” you guys and I LOVE seeing how y’all mingle with each other! If this is your first time here, #YOLOmondays is a chance for us to link up anything we want (as long as it’s a blog post…). You know, cause it’s Monday, and what better way to jazz up your mundane Monday than to link up and meet some new bloggers?
Carly and I love seeing y’all linked up every week! The Rules for #YOLOMONDAYS Link-Ups:
-
- Follow your hosts Molly @ still being [molly] and Carly at Lipgloss & Crayons!
- Grab a button and / or post a link back here in your BLOG POST (NOT your blog’s main page) so your readers know what all the #YOLOMONDAY-ness is about. We love you guys linking up and we do go through and read all your posts… so if you do not give credit, we will have to remove your link. That’s no fun, right? Right. So be nice and share a link! Pretty please?
- Link your blog post up using the linky tool below! It can be ANYTHING! An outfit post, a giveaway, a story, a recipe, whatever. Why? Cause it’s #YOLOMONDAYS!
- Visit a blog or four that you’ve never been to before and leave a #YOLOMONDAYS comment – you never know, you might “meet” someone new that you will lurve!
- Have fun! Cause #YOLO!

LOVE your skirt and cute socks peeking out. It’s our first Christmas as a married couple, and I’m so excited to begin our own traditions 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Loving that skirt!! I love Christmas too ~ family, food, great memories!! And, the best gift of all! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Molly!
We had lots of Christmas traditions growing up, my mom would go all out! We’d eat shrimp on Christmas Eve, read Jesus’ birth story from Luke before opening one gift that night. On Christmas morning, we’d eat homemade cream puffs and open our gifts and my dad would play old school records of Bing Crosby and Crabs for Christmas! Oh, such great memories 🙂 I can’t wait until we have kids and can do fun/silly things like that!
This is my first Christmas as a newlywed as well, and we’re hosting our second annual Christmas Eve dinner tonight with close friends. I hope it becomes a new tradition for us because last years was such a blast! Have a very Merry Christmas, Molly!

What afun tradition of going to see Christmas lights on Christmas Eve! Later on when you have kids, it’s also fun to see which traditions you want to preserve, which ones are also important to your husband and which new ones you want to create. Merry Cheistmas Molly! As always, thanks for hosting. 🙂
Hi Cute Molly.
I love that Rose T-Shirt. It looks great with the ruffly, light Olive Green Cardigan. And as always that skirt is one of my favorites in your closet. I have featured it before in my blog. =)
Merry Christmas to you & your family and here is a little XMas surprise for you – hope you like it. =)
