Lilly – Two Month Update!
Our sweet Lilly girl is 2 months old today! My how the time flies. I know a lot of parents say this, but it’s like I’ve known her forever. It’s almost even hard to remember life before Lilly.
She has just brought SO much life and joy and laughter and love and fun to our lives. It’s really hard to explain how much we love her! I JUST LOVE HER SO MUCH. 🙂
She’s grown SO much in the past month, it’s crazy! I feel like every day she is doing something new or different. It’s really amazing.
In the past month we went on our first road trip to visit the grandparents and Lilly did AWESOME!
We celebrated John’s 30th birthday:
My friend Dani came over with her sweet Elle and they had a playdate. LOOK AT THEM HOLDING HANDS! I CAN’T EVEN STAND IT.
Smiles for daddy:
Such a big smile!
A visit to the pumpkin patch:
hahahahaha looks like she’s up to something:
Lilly’s 2 Month Update!
Weight: 11 pounds 5.5 ounces
Length: 22.25″ long
Head Circumference: 40 cm
Nicknames: Lilly bug. Baby boo. Beebeeboo. Lilliputian. Putian. Monkey boo.
Sleep: Her sleep patterns over the last month have certainly been erratic, but have seemed to level off somewhat in the last week or so. (Look, I’m going to say that and then she’s going to totally change things up on me). She did have one TEN HOUR stretch one night last month. That was one time, but oh it was glorious.
On average, she is going to bed sometime between 8pm and 9pm and usually sleeps a five hour stretch and wakes up between 2am and 3am. It is usually about 30-45 minutes, sometimes an hour of me nursing her and trying to get her to go back to bed… so then she’ll go back to sleep between 3am and 4am and have another three hour stretch.
She’s taking one LONG nap during the day, but has several other cat naps… it just all depends.
Eating: She never misses any meals (as evidenced by her growth)! She usually nurses every 3-4 hours, but some days I feel like she wants to nurse every hour. I am still feeding her on demand. I try to pump in between sessions, too, so that I can have a stash. It’s also helpful so that I can bring a bottle when we go out rather than having to try and find a place to nurse her.
I am also trying to let John take over at least one feeding a day so they can have their time together.
Diapers: We’re still cloth diapering and I really do love it! She has grown out of her extra-small newborn BumGenius diapers, and she is juuuuuust about grown out of her Bitty Bee Little Bee Co. newborn diapers – but I’m still squeezing her into them for a few more days. My favorite diapers BY FAR are the BumGenius 4.0 all-in-one diapers. They fit her awesome, they never leak, and they dry really quickly. I am obsessed with them!
Clothing: Lilly has finally started growing out of her newborn clothes. She does still have a couple “newborn sized” outfits that fit, but they were on the larger side to begin with. Beyond that, she’s in all 0-3 month and 3 month sized clothing.
(BELOW) The picture on the left was taken the night we brought her home from the hospital and the picture on the right was taken about a week ago… that newborn-sized sleeper is definitely smaller on her now!
Mood: Lilly already has such a personality! She definitely lets you know what mood she is in. She is her happiest in the morning right after she wakes up and after she’s eaten, but for the most part, she’s a happy baby most of the time. I take her everywhere with me and she handles it all so well!
She has DEFINITELY in the last month or so had her seriously fussy days that can drive me crazy because I have NO idea what’s wrong (I know it’s nothing), but nothing will calm her down. Those times can certainly be trying, but she is totally worth it! And her smile seriously makes my day.
Loves:
- Sleeping while swaddled. Homegirl sleeps SO well when she is swaddled!
- Her MAM pacifiers – those are the only pacis she will take.
- Car rides – she passes RIGHT out!
- Daddy giving her a bath. She looooves bathtime and especially when it’s with daddy.
- Staring at the painting my nephew made for her. She seriously smiles and coos and giggles at it ALL the time.
- Going for walks in the carrier or Moby wrap. She just loves being held close.
Doesn’t Love:
- Being cold. Hates being cold.
- Being held “like a baby” – you know, to the side. She gets fussy right away. She likes to be held straight up so she can see.
What I Want to Remember:
- The noises she makes – the coos, the grunts, the grottles, the giggles – love them all.
- The hilariously loud volume at which she farts. I’m sorry, farts are funny, I don’t care who you are. (Blackmail for those future suitors!)
- She can roll from tummy to back (and has been doing so since about 2-3 weeks old).
- The way she looks at her daddy… melts my heart.
- Morning snuggles.
- The way she smiles.
Mommy: I’m doing really well and adjusting nicely. It’s been a big challenge over the last month balancing working from home AND being a full-time mom. It’s really tough. A whole lot tougher than I thought it would be. I work a lot of late nights and early mornings and get as much done as I can during her naps, but it’s tough, for sure. I’m doing it though!
Daddy: John is such an amazing dad. I just can tell how much he loves her and it makes my heart explode. He works so hard for our family and I can’t even begin to express how much I appreciate him!
What I’m Looking Forward To: I get to see my best friend next week and she gets to meet Lilly, I’m going to another best friend’s baby shower next month, AND we are going to my alma mater for homecoming! I can’t WAIT!

What a cutie pie!!
She is just precious! And rolling over?! So impressed! It is so beautiful when they start to really know who we (the parents) are. Maggie does not like being held like a baby either. So funny!
You’ll have to drop us a line when you are in town. I have never been to Homecoming at CNU, and having been on campus for other reasons recently, I can tell you it is pretty much unrecognizable from when we were there. I don’t think President Trible will be statisfied until not a single building there was standing before he arrived.
You’re all so adorable! I love how you’re keeping track of Lilly’s growth. I’ve got to do that when I have a little one of my own!
She is growing so fast! She totally has your BIG smile in that one pic….. defiantly a happy little girl!
