I don’t know how many of you were ever What Not To Wear fans on TLC. I’ve already told y’all my story of the time I met Stacy London and I was NOT wearing a completer jacket. Oy.

Well, I’ve loved that show all 10 years it was on TV, and one of Stacy and Clinton’s mantra’s that has stuck with me is: COLOR PATTERN TEXTURE SHINE.

Meaning, when getting dressed or when shopping for clothes, look for things like COLOR, PATTERN, TEXTURE, AND SHINE. Those things take an outfit from blech to BAM!

I have loved playing with mixing patterns and textures recently. Denim with polka dots and sequins. Or chevron and denim and lace. Because when you mix patterns and textures like that, and you look at it on, it’s almost like it was meant to be or something. Yet, when you really think about it, the combination can often be unexpected.

I have a little bit of an addiction to chevron, and this maxi skirt from BlueTique only fuels that addiction even more. It’s SO comfy and I love the neutral colors make it easy to pair with SO many things in my closet. It’s kind of one of my new favorite fall staples. Only thing I will warn you is that it’s a little see-through so be sure to wear a slip!

  3. What a great skirt! I love that it is neutral colors. And I wouldn’t have thought to add a white jacket to that outfit, but it adds a touch of light color to the whole outfit.
