Fashion for Good Friday: JOYN India

This week’s featured #FashionforGood brand is one of my newer favorites: JOYN India. I learned about JOYN back in the fall from my friend April at One World Market. I hadn’t previously heard of them before, and April did nothing but sing their praises and she knew it would be a brand that I’d fall in love with and she knew that their bags, wallets, clutches, etc. were exactly my style.

And ohhhhhh boy, was she right! The moment I first touched a JOYN bag, I was hooked. The attention to detail amazing and you can really FEEL the heart and soul that goes into what they make. You can feel the life that has been impacted in this bag. It doesn’t FEEL mass produced… it FEELS handmade and special and unique – just like the person who made it. I LOVE that.

JOYN partners with artisans in India and connects each one of them and their talents to the markets. JOYN gives them a dignified job at a dignified wage, excellent working conditions, provides them opportunity and a way to not only express themselves through creativity, but also provides them with a chance to get out of poverty and keep their families together. The story of how JOYN got started is so inspiring.

JOYN’s mission, purpose, and passion is what I love about fair trade and ethical companies – they are more than JUST a product… more than JUST a handbag… more than JUST a wallet. They’re about life change.
