Our Wedding Album… Only Four Years Late
When John and I were planning our wedding, to say we were on a strict budget is a bit of an understatement. For the most part, John and I paid for our entire wedding. His parents were extremely generous and helped to pay for our amazing photographer and our rehearsal dinner, but other than that, every cent of our wedding was paid for by the two of us. And, this was while I was still trying to get out of debt.
So, getting out of debt, preparing for a marriage, AND saving to pay cash for a wedding? Yeah, we cut corners left and right. We DIYed as much as we could, we had friends help us, family help us, it was TRULY a community effort.
In any event, one of the things we just couldn’t justify spending money on when we were planning and preparing for the wedding was a wedding album. I realize this seems silly, but to spend that extra $1,000+ for a leather bound album was just not in the cards. So, we opted to not get one. After talking with our photographer Katelyn, turns out we are not strange… a lot of people skip the wedding album at first.
But, as time went on, I realized that I was really sad that we didn’t have a wedding album! I mean, we have these GORGEOUS images that Katelyn took and we have some canvases… but, to basically have all these images just sitting on a computer isn’t treating the images the way they deserve to be treated. There’s just something about HOLDING a physical wedding album and being able to look through it and years from now show our kids and grandkids, etc. etc. etc. It’s special. So, I wanted to get a wedding album…
Well, LAST YEAR (as in, Thanksgiving of 2014), our photographer Katelyn was running a “Black Friday” special on wedding albums and so I sat down with John and we looked at the budget and we decided to FINALLY get ourselves a wedding album!
We ordered it, and then I was the WORST and totally procrastinated doing the approval process (I waited like six months… SLACKER RIGHT HERE, y’all!) and then FINALLY ordered it. And, we got it this fall and we are in love!
Now that we’re celebrating four years of marriage, I thought it would be fun to share our album with y’all so you can see what it looks like. And, if you are married and don’t have a wedding album… GET ONE. You will NOT regret it! Don’t let those wedding day images just sit on your computer… they’re MEANT to be printed and shared!
Now, we ordered ours through our photographer (so check with your photographer to see if they offer albums). Katelyn uses Leather Craftsman and the quality is AMAZING.
We got an 8×8 album instead of 10×10 and it’s plenty big for us. I love the thick, sturdy, lay-flat pages. I love the “engraved” look of our names on the cover. I love it all. It’s perfect. And something that I look at all the time now and know we will treasure for years to come!
Here’s our album:
Look at those thick pages! And I love the layflat look…
