LILLY: Perchance to Dream Dress: Matilda Jane – Trunk Keeper #783 Jennifer Dailey c/o | Shoes: Stride Rite
A few months ago, a dear friend of mine hosted a play date at her house that incorporated a fun “at-home” fashion show and dress-up time with Matilda Jane clothing. I hadn’t honestly known that much about Matilda Jane at the time (I’d seen some of their stuff here and there), but I was really excited to get a morning to hang out with my mama friends, while also doing something fun with Lilly and her little girl friends.
Jennifer Dailey, the trunk keeper who put on the dress-up play date, was just the SWEETEST and we had the BEST TIME.
Of course, just being the person that I am, I immediately struck up a conversation with Jennifer and loved hearing more about her, her sweet family, her background, and Matilda Jane!
Matilda Jane is an AMAZING company with absolutely gorgeous, unique clothing for babies, girls, tweens, AND women! They also have a really huge heart for giving back and spreading love and joy.
Every year they do a “Holiday Spread the Love!” event which focuses on encouraging and bringing a smile to the face of those who need it during the holidays!
I even talked with Jennifer about the manufacturing practices of Matilda Jane. While Matilda Jane does have a line (their Platinum line) that’s handmade here in the United States… they work with vetted factories in China that the founder herself picked! All of the employees at the factory are paid a living wage, work in safe working conditions, and are well taken care of. Y’all know how important that is to me, so I thought you might like to know, too! 🙂
From Jennifer:
“Matilda Jane has grown from the girls line, to now include a tween, baby and women’s lines. I am personally very thankful to have the tween line for my older daughters. Finding appropriate, modest and girly clothing past a certain age and size is very difficult at most stores. My playgroup friends and preschool friends all cringed when our daughters went from the toddler’d section ending at 5T, to the girl’s section starting at 4/5 and up.
There have been numerous articles written over the past few years about the lack of appropriate clothing choices moms have to buy for girls in these age ranges. Matilda Jane has filled a huge gap in clothing for my children to keep us looking 5, 8 and 10 instead of 16.
Matilda Jane’s Women’s line has also grown substantially over the past few years. Instead of a few pieces each season, we now carry a full line each season. MJ Women’s line has grown from cute comfortable clothes, to a stylish, affordable and everyday wear clothing. MJ wants women to look and feel beautiful everyday. Whether you are wearing your ruffles and a tee just to go grocery shopping, or the new Millie top while attending your daughter’s school event. MJ has an outfit for the day and wants you to look and feel gorgeous.”
I am in LOVE with this Queen of Hearts dress from Matilda Jane. It’s SO comfortable, the purple is a gorgeous fall color, and I feel so feminine and beautiful in it!
And can we talk about the little girl’s clothing? It is TO DIE FOR CUTE!!! Seriously. Everything they make I just can’t even handle how cute it is.
Also, something that I think is really important is that the clothing is made to LAST. They use extremely high quality fabrics that don’t fade and really stand up to wear and tear. Lilly plays HARD in her clothing, and so far her Matilda Jane doesn’t even show how hard she plays! 🙂
I have some friends who have had Matilda Jane pieces last through two, three, even FOUR kids!!
For me, I am totally willing to spend a little more on special, quality pieces of clothing for myself and my kids when I know they are good quality, well made, AND made by people who were treated with dignity and respect. That’s so, so, so important to me!

Here are a couple other Matilda Jane pieces Lilly has… we just LOVE them! This dress is so cute! It’s one of her favorites!

Last week on the blog, I shared with you guys how much I believe in having a mission statement – for work, life, etc. I absolutely LOVE the mission statement of Matilda Jane:
“It’s all about keeping a little girl… a little girl. Keeping her youthful. Keeping her spinning and twirling and carefree. And most importantly, bringing her happiness.” – Denise DeMarchis, designer and founder.
I love that so much. I think too often these days we try to make kids, especially little girls, grow up too fast. We push them to do more, work harder, and live up to our expectations. Sometimes we need to remember the importance of letting them just be a little girl… twirling and running around and playing.
Here was Lilly’s “First Day of School” outfit. The ruffles! GAH!!
LILLY: Oh Dear Tunic & Big Ruffles: Matilda Jane – Trunk Keeper #783 Jennifer Dailey (what I bought that got me HOOKED haha!!)
This girl has so much sass I can’t even stand it… SO cute!

Molly, first, that dress on you is AMAZING! I love it!
Second, so many friends in Texas wear this line but I’ve never seen it locally. How bout you have a trunk show so I can shop? K?
Yes! That would be great!! I know Jennifer really wants to host an in-person show!
That picture of you and Lilly with the sassy faces, I couldn’t help but laugh. This looks like a great clothing line and an awesome way to get together with friends.
thanks, melissa!
