November is a weird month for me. It’s bittersweet. I LOVE Thanksgiving… like… I LOVE Thanksgiving and I look forward to it all month. I love the full-on arrival of Fall. I love the changing leaves. But November is also hard. November means Veteran’s Day and the anniversary of my mom’s passing… since she was a Vietnam Veteran, those days can be tough for me.
But, I also love how the month of November often causes us to pause and just be thankful.
I love seeing the lists that people write and share on social media of the things they are thankful for. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how blessed we are. And no, I don’t mean this in the #blessed, cliche, sense. I mean this in the most genuine way possible…
We. Are. So. Blessed.
Yes, this world is tough. Yes, life is tough.
But we are blessed. We should be thankful. I am thankful.
I woke up this morning in a bed. I am thankful.
I woke up this morning with a roof over my head. I am thankful.
I had food in my refrigerator and my pantry. I am thankful.
I had clothes to wear. I am thankful.
I had a car to drive. I am thankful.
I can afford to put gas in the car that I drive. I am thankful.
I love listening to podcasts and music on Spotify. I am thankful.
I have a cell phone that allows me to connect with people. I am thankful.
Places like Chipotle exist. I. AM. THANKFUL. And I know guac is extra. I can pay for the guac that is extra… thus, I am thankful.
I could go on and on and on and on. We have so. much. to be thankful for.
So I challenge you… what are you thankful for today? Write it down. 3 things. 7 things. 15 things. 120 things. Write them down. Write down what you are thankful for and post it somewhere you can see it and be reminded.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Molly, during this tough month. You are right, there are so many things to be thankful for. It’s easy to forget the little things.
I am thankful that I took the leap a year ago and went to my first TriFabb event and met some wonderful people. So blessed to have met you.
I love the lace sweater! I try to write down three things I am grateful for in my journal or in my planner. I know it is going to be a tough month for you but you have the right mindset. We can be thankful to have loving parents to celebrate even with the sadness of them passing. My grandfathers were veterans and I always think of them in November and all of the sacrifices they made. The gratitude people express in November makes it one of my favorite months and I try to remember all of my blessings, as well. I’m very sorry to hear about your mother, but I’m thankful for her service to our country; she sounds like one awesome woman and you should be very proud! 🙂

You look amazing! Chin up friend, Veterans day should be a great day to remember your mother and teach your children about her and what she did for our country!
