Maybe it’s because I’m heading back to Kenya, or maybe it’s because I have little kids, or maybe it’s because we are just in a very “transitional” political season… but I’ve been thinking a lot about “culture.” Everything from what are are known for now and what we will be known for later. Our culture as Americans across the country, to cultures in our states or small towns… southern culture vs. northern culture vs. east coast vs. west coast… etc… No matter where we are, where we live… we are surrounded by culture of some kind.
And as we are in this season of life right now, I can’t help but think about the kind of culture I want us to really be known by… and that’s a culture that cares about others. That’s a culture that gives a rip about our neighbors and our brothers and our sisters. A culture of people who care for the least of these. A culture of people who are generous, kind, selfless, and giving.
This is the type of culture I want for my kids. Maybe that’s why I’m so crazy as to hop on a plane to Kenya today… because I want to do my part, albeit a very, very small part, to create a culture of kindness in this world.
What about you? What aspects of “culture” do you think about (if any)? What are you doing to make 2017 your best year ever?
Now, one more thing. Carly and I are teaming up to do more than host our link up. We are teaming up to share brands that we love……brands that give back. Each week we’ll be collaborating with one of our favorite brands to share the cause they support, and their amazing products.
This week we are teaming up to tell y’all about the line Emma J released with Dawn McCoy to benefit No Kid Hungry. No Kid Hungry is an amazing organization that provides meals for children in need. And this jewelry line from Emma J? It’s STUNNING! Who doesn’t love jewelry that supports an amazing cause!
Now, on to you guys…..our favorites last week?
