While I am the first to admit that I’m typically a “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of girl, I do love to dress up. Most of my closet is pretty casual wear, and since I’m very intentional about what I buy and what I add to my wardrobe, I’ve been looking for a beautifully made, unique, and fair trade classic fitted dress. I wanted something that would stand the test of time and be “in style” now and 10 years from now. This fitted dress is it, y’all.
I’ve mentioned Victoria Road a few times before and I love this amazing fair trade fashion brand. Their clothes are beautifully handcrafted in Lahore, Pakistan and they really take a different approach to fashion by doing “pre-orders” for their pieces and even custom making them for your size and measurements. They don’t just produce a bunch of clothing for the sake of producing it… they are thoughtful and intentional about every piece that’s made.
This classic fitted dress is so beautiful, so comfortable, and the craftsmanship is stunning. I love the unique fabrics, I love the pockets, the high collar, the classic black and white print, and I love the fitted a-line shape. I’ve worn this fitted dress a few times and received so many compliments on it! It also has all of the classic elements that stand the test of time and are in style no matter what trends come and go.
What about you? What do you look for when you’re shopping for a classic piece of clothing to add to your wardrobe? What are the criteria you look for when you’re getting an “investment” piece? Have you heard of Victoria Road?
This dress is so beautiful! I love the alternating patterns at the bottom in particular. I tend to stick with a more monochrome theme in my wardrobe, so my criteria for investment piece is something in a basic color that is borderline casual/dressy to ensure that it matches with as much of my wardrobe as possible.
This dress is so lovely and feminine.
