5 Ethical and Fair Trade Halloween Candy Alternatives
Looking for ethical and fair trade options Halloween Candy Alternatives to hand out this year? Look no further than this list!
We are just a few weeks away from Halloween! I have had quite a few of you ask me about suggestions for what ethical, fair trade, and organic Halloween candy alternatives there are for you to hand out to trick-or-treaters… There are some awesome options out there that make DELICIOUS candy that is not only yummy (and doesn’t contain unnecessary ingredients), but also is produced fairly! As much as I hate to say it, most of the mainstream chocolate companies out there are still not taking a firm stand against using child labor in their supply chain. (source, source) For me, I am totally willing to spend a little bit more money on Halloween candy alternatives to pass out to our neighbors when I know that the company behind it is taking a stand against child labor and empowering cocoa farmers by paying them a fair and living wage.
Here are 5 of my FAVORITE options for ethical, fair trade, and organic Halloween candy alternatives:
Organic YumEarth Vitamin C Lollipops
$16.57 for approx 125 lollipops
Okay, you guys. I know, these aren’t even chocolate but let me tell you… these lollipops are DELICIOUS. Lilly loves them. Okay fine, John and I love them too. They are so good, very affordable, and they are free from top allergens, too! No Egg, fish, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy, tree-nuts and gluten. They also do not have artificial flavors or colors. Oh, and they have vitamin C, so you’re basically doing the parents of the trick-or-treaters a FAVOR by giving them these. I mean, they’re basically salad. You’re welcome. (They also come in a container without vitamin C which you can get here)
Equal Exchange Organic Milk Chocolate 41% Dark Minis with Hint of Hazelnut
These Halloween candy alternatives are so good they should be illegal. But they are not illegal, they are very legal, and very delicious. They also come in regular dark chocolate minis and those are also delicious. Let’s see how many times I can say delicious in this blog post. These chocolates are organic, certified fair trade, and kosher.
TRU Chocolate Dark Chocolate Wafers
It is hard to believe that something that has NO sugar, NO dairy, is gluten free, vegan, all natural, contains organic cocoa, is Made in USA, AND is Fair Trade Certified could be delicious… but y’all… SO GOOD. These are SO GOOD. Your neighbors will be asking for more and they’ll be asking where you got them because YUM.
