DIY Foaming Face Wash
Want to know how to make your own DIY Rose Infused Cleansing Foaming Face Wash? Check out this post to learn.
It’s no secret that I am all about some DIY in my house. I love making my own bath and beauty products so I know exactly what is going inside of them. But the one product I had been really hesitant to make myself was face wash. I have sensitive skin and I just thought there was no way I could make my own face wash that would remove makeup, cleanse my skin, and not irritate it. I recently ran out of my favorite Young Living Orange Blossom foaming facial wash, and so I decided to try my hand at making my own. I pulled together ingredients I had on hand in my house and tinkered around with it a bit and gave it a shot.
Well, I’ve been using this exact foaming face wash for a little over a month now, and I’m IN LOVE. I probably love it more than any high end face wash I have purchased before. And I love that I can really tailor it to my skin with the essential oils that I put into it. It’s quick and easy to make and one bottle lasts MONTHS.
Needless to say, I am a fan. So, if you want to know how to make your own foaming wash, check this out – I’ve even got the cost breakdown for you.
DIY Foaming Face Wash
Ingredients
- 1 Foaming Pump Dispenser (I love these)
- 1/4 cup (approx) Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Liquid Soap in Rose ()This is my favorite)
- 2 tbsp Rosewater (This one works great)
- 1 tsp Argan Oil ((This stuff is great)
- 15 drops Frankincense Essential Oil ((Learn how to get started with Essential Oils Here)
- 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil ((Learn how to get started with Essential Oils Here)
- 5 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil ((Learn how to get started with Essential Oils Here)
- 5 drops Manuka Essential Oil ((Learn how to get started with Essential Oils Here)
- 2 drops Rose Essential Oil ((Learn how to get started with Essential Oils Here) (If you have it... I do not, but it would be awesome if you did!)
Instructions
-
Fill your foaming pump dispenser 1/4 of the way full with the Rose Castile Liquid Soap
-
Add in the Rosewater and Argan Oil
-
Add the drops of each essential oil. If you do not have one of the oils mentioned, simply omit it. This is just my suggestion... but all of these together make a great combination!
-
Fill the rest of your foaming pump container with water (distilled is preferred, but tap water totally works, too!)
-
Shake your foaming pump dispenser well and you're ready to use your foaming face wash!
-
*NOTE: The face wash will separate, so be sure to shake it well before each use.
Now, let’s be real, most high end face washes can cost anywhere from $25 – $80 a bottle depending upon what brand / kind you get. Not only is this, in my personal opinion, one of the most effective and high end foaming face washes you can use (seriously, it’s great for oily, combination, OR dry skin…), it’s also extremely cost effective.
Because I think it’s helpful to get a breakdown of cost, I did the math for you to give you an approximate cost per bottle.
COST BREAKDOWN:
- 1 Foaming Pump Dispenser: $7.50 (can be used over and over again, so this is a one time purchase)
- Rose Castile Soap: $15.99 for a bottle, $0.50 cents per ounce… approximately 2 ounces used each time, so $1.00 in Castile Soap per use
- Rosewater: $9.99 for a bottle, $2.50 per use
- Argan Oil: $10.19 for a bottle, $1.70 per use
- Frankincense Essential Oil: $4.35 for 15 drops
- Lavender Essential Oil: $0.90 for 10 drops
- Tea Tree Essential Oil: $0.45 for 5 drops
- Manuka Essential Oil: $1.45 for 5 drops
(I am omitting Rose essential oil from the cost per bottle because I don’t have this oil.. and it’s a bonus if you do!)
COST PER BOTTLE: approximately $12.35 (not counting foaming pump dispenser which is a one time cost).
Also, you have to realize, that you will get a TON of use out of one bottle (one bottle honestly lasts me about 4-5 months). And that is using it daily. One pump really does the trick. If you use it more often (more than once a day), obviously the bottle won’t last as long. All those ingredients will make you multiple bottles (I’m not doing the math on that because, currently, my brain hurts). Because, to be honest, doing the math on all of the above was more math than I care to ever do. So, you’re welcome.
Now what do you think? Have you ever made your own face wash? Would you try this recipe?

THANK YOU so much for this post! I have been eyeing YL’s Orange Blossom Facewash but didn’t like the price tag. I will have to give this a try!
