Flytographer Review | Prague Anniversary Photoshoot
John and I had the opportunity to go to PRAGUE in July for a business trip for John’s work. We were SO excited, because while it was a business trip, we had a lot of down time and so we used it as an opportunity to also have a much-needed kid-free vacation together. We have not really been AWAY by ourselves for longer than one or two nights since our honeymoon. This was so needed and we were so excited. Plus, neither of us have ever been to Prague (and it was John’s first time in Europe!), so needless to say, we were really looking forward to this trip. And since we were traveling to Prague by ourselves, I knew that I wanted to book an anniversary photoshoot! I had no idea where to even begin when it came to looking for an anniversary photographer in Prague, and then quite a few people told me to check out Flytographer. I had never heard of it before, and once I checked it out, I was sold! We had the BEST EXPERIENCE. Since we loved our Flytographer experience so much, I thought I’d share a little bit about it and share my review with you!
What is Flytographer?
In short, Flytographer is a website and service where you can find and book a photographer for your photoshoot needs pretty much all over the WORLD! As cliche as it sounds, it really is a one-stop-shop for booking a photographer wherever you are traveling. Whether it’s a family photoshoot, a couple’s photoshoot, or even a proposal(!!), you can find a photographer in almost any major destination around the world.
Where can you book a Flytographer?
You can book a Flytographer on almost every continent… just simply go to their website and search in their destinations and see if the city you are traveling to is on their list. If not, you can click “request a city” and put in the city you are traveling to and they can try to find a photographer in that area. The USA and Europe definitely have the most destinations, but they even have some in Central and South America, Oceania, Africa, and Asia.
How do you choose a photographer?
When you click on the destination, it will list all the photographers that are “Flytographers” in that destination. Prague had about 5 or 6 options and I looked through the portfolios of each photographer and found one whose style I liked the most. I chose Matěj Třasák, whose GORGEOUS fine art, light and airy style, I fell in love with immediately! You simply put in a request to book the photographer you want, and then the photographer responds with their availability.
How do you communicate with the photographer?
Flytographer gives you a “concierge” and acts as the intermediary between you and the photographer at first. It’s super easy to figure out time and place to meet (they even suggest places!). Then, a few days before your scheduled shoot, they sent a message to us with our WhatsApp contact information and we were told to communicate with our photographer through WhatsApp.
One thing that I LOVED was that I really told Matěj that we trusted him implicitly with time and location for meeting. I said I wanted images that showcased the beautiful city, but honestly other than that, I wasn’t picky at all. He knew exactly where to take us!
ALSO, Matěj sent us a message to let us know that the weather wasn’t looking good for the original agreed upon time… so we ended up moving up our photoshoot from late Sunday evening to early Saturday morning shortly after sunrise. While it was an early morning, I am SO GLAD we did it then! We did our shoot at Prague Castle and WE HAD THE WHOLE PLACE TO OURSELVES. The day before, John and I had explored this area and it was FULL of tourists… but early in the morning? We were all alone. It was SO worth it!
My BIGGEST tip – trust your photographer and aim to shoot EARLY in the day for the best light and for the least amount of tourists. I have a feeling that is true no matter where you go!
How much does it cost?
They have four basic packages ranging from $250-$650 – some packages include credit towards prints – all are based upon time. You get digital files with all the packages!
How long does it take to get back your images?
Now, Flytographer promises within 5 business days (which is CRAZY fast), but we got ours within 48 hours! I was FLOORED! It was so fun to go through the images on the plane on the way home. It really made the experience incredible.
Overall thoughts?
100000% I would book a photographer through Flytographer again. We had an incredible experience. I felt the pricing was reasonable, the experience top notch, and we loved having someone capture important images on our once-in-a-lifetime vacation / business trip! 😉
