100 Random Get-to-Know-Me Questions that No One Ever Asks… Tag
I have not done one of these in FOREVER. These tags used to be all the rage in the early years of blogging and every now and then, it’s fun to just kick it old school and do something the way we USED to do it… Get-to-know-me tags are just a really fun way to, well… get to know me.
So this one is a “100 Random Get-to-Know-Me Questions that No One Ever Asks… Tag” and I’d love for YOU to do it, too!! If you do, leave a comment below with a link to your post!

- Are you named after anyone? Nope! My parents just loved the name.
- What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender? Brian!
- When was the last time you cried? Honestly, hahah I am not sure… probably within the last week or so or probably watching This is Us.
- Do you have kids? If no, how many do you want? 2 here on earth, and 2 in heaven.
- If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? ABSOLUTELY. I AM AWESOME.
- Do you use sarcasm a lot? I mean, no? (sarcasm)
- What’s the first thing you notice about people? Typically their eyes!
- What is your eye color? Green / hazel… sometimes they look REALLY green and sometimes more hazel.
- Scary movie or happy endings? Happy endings. I really dislike scary (horror) movies. I don’t mind suspense or action, but horror movies, no way.
- Favorite smells? Oh man, I love the smell of a newborn baby (not creepy, I promise). But I also love the woodsy / floraly scents. Oh, and the ocean.
- What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? Kenya!
- Do you have any special talents? I can sing and play golf. And I used to do improvisational and sketch comedy.
- Where were you born? Herndon, VA
- What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in? Swahili and Spanish!
- What are your hobbies? Reading, Burn Boot Camp, studying the bible!
- Do you have any pets? Audrey Hepburn and Tater – two doggies.
- Do you have any siblings? One sister!
- What did you want to be when you grew up? All my life I wanted to be on Saturday Night Live.
- Who was your first best friend? My first best friend was my friend Becca! We are still friends today. Sadly she lives in Colorado so I don’t see her hardly ever but I still love her!
- How tall are you? 5’4″
- What is the least favorite thing about yourself? I think I have a pretty awesome sense of humor.
- What is hard about being a parent? Discipline. 1000000%. And also fear of failing my kids. Hahahah
- How many countries have you visited? 8 I think!
- What was your favorite/worst subject in High School? Favorite: choir! Least favorite: geometry.
- What is your Favorite drink? Diet Coke. (Save your emails…)
- Favorite Animal? When I was little it was horses, in high school in college it was monkeys, now I really love cheetahs and lions.
- Favorite Perfume? Skylar! (I have a whole blog post on my favorite perfumes)
- What would you (or have you) name your children? Lilly and Amos
- What Sports do you play/Have you played? I was GOOD at golf. I was pretty good at softball. I was terrible at lacrosse and soccer.
- Who are some of your favorite fashion brands? ABLE, Elegantees, The Root Collective, Sseko Designs!
- Favorite memory from childhood? SO many, but the first thing that comes to mind is just traveling in our little RV and staying at all these different camp grounds. It was so much fun and I’ll never forget it.
- How would you describe your fashion sense? The older I get, the more I love basics in my closet and the ability to dress them up or down with my shoes and accessories.
- What phone do you have? (iOS v Android?) iPhone all the way!
- Tell us one of your bad habits! Checking Instagram too much. #honesty
- Have you forgiven yourself for past personal failures? Why or why not? Oh man, this is deep. It’s taken years for me to say this – but yes, I’ve finally forgiven myself for past personal failures. And that forgiveness is pretty recent. It takes work, but I’m so thankful that I am where I am… and I wouldn’t be where I am had I not totally screwed up in the past.
- Have you ever visited a country outside your continent? Yes!
- Have you ever won a trophy or an award? What was it for? Yes! Honestly, the one that probably means the most to me was when I was a high school teacher after college and won First Year Teacher of the Year. I STILL have that award!
- Have you read any of the Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Twilight series? Which one is your favorite? Oh man this is so tough… I don’t like Twilight, but I LOVE Harry Potter and Hunger Games. If I HAVE to pick a favorite it’s Harry Potter.
- What is under your bed? My dog, sleeping.
- What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up? Diet Coke. No shame. Also watching The Bachelor / Bachelorette.
- What is something you are gifted at? I think I have the gift of discernment and the gift of “reading” people. I’m a really good judge of character and I tend to see a lot about who someone REALLY is pretty quickly.
- What is the first movie you remember seeing? Wizard of Oz!
- What do you like about your home? It’s so “homey.” It’s just comfortable and cozy and it’s never going to be featured in a catalog, but that’s okay! I love it.
- What do you love about living in your neighborhood? Our neighbors and ALL of the kids. Our kids are obsessed with playing outside with other kids in the neighborhood and it brings me so much joy.
- If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do? Our kitchen would be first for sure. I would change the cabinets and update the appliances.
- What time do you usually get up in the morning? I groggily look at my phone to see what time it is and then I get up to go to the gym… haha and I read / listen to my Bible while I’m getting ready.
- What time is your usual bed time? I try to be in bed asleep by 10:30 at the latest. Sometimes earlier, sometimes a little later.
- 3 things that upset you? Unrelated to each other – but #1 is people being treated poorly / unfairly / unjustly. #2 people lying. #3 selfishness / ungratefulness.
- 3 things that make you happy? Generosity, good times spend with friends / family, seeing my kids laugh and snuggle and play.
- How is your relationship with parents? My mom passed away when I was 17 and I have a great relationship with my dad! I love him so much!
- What’s on your mind? I’m praying about a talk I’m giving at church this week.
- What’s your talent? I can sing. I don’t sing (like, for real sing) much anymore, but I still love to when I get the chance.
- One word that describes you? Loyal.
- What’s your favorite quotes? “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” {1 Peter 4:10}
- Are you an extrovert or introvert? Introvert! Everyone thinks I’m an extrovert but NOPE.
- Are you left or right handed? Left handed
- Do you consider yourself a good cook? I am a great cook and I LOVE to cook.
- If money were no object what would you get for your next birthday? I have said for years I would LOVE to someday own a Jeep Wrangler again. I am so mad at myself for ever getting rid of that car.
- If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? Honestly, I love where I live now. But I’ve always said I’d move to Kenya if given the chance.
- What’s your favorite thing to have for breakfast? When I’m “treating” myself to something other than a protein shake, I LOVE an everything bagel with sausage, egg, and pimento cheese. YUM.
- What’s your favorite gadget? Probably my iPhone?
- What’s your longest relationship so far? My husband! Married almost 8 years, together 9.5 years.
- What is your biggest accomplishment? My marriage and my kiddos.
- What is your biggest fear? Something happening to my husband or my kids.
- What is your biggest regret? Not taking more pictures with my mom while she was alive.
- What is the most important thing in your life? My faith in Jesus Christ.
- Who is your favorite musician? Of all time? Dave Matthews Band. Right now? I love worship music right now… so lots.
- What has required the most courage of you in your life so far? Having to stand up for what I believe in a situation where I was being greatly opposed.
- Beach or mountains? I’m cheating but both. I didn’t love the mountains as a kid but as an adult I LOVE THE MOUNTAINS.
- What is your favorite food? Chipotle.
- What is your favorite fairytale? Cinderella (fun fact, I did my senior year of college English thesis on Cinderella)
- What is your favorite ice-cream flavor? New York Super Fudge Chunk from Ben & Jerry’s – or chocolate chip cookie dough.
- What is your favorite bible verse? 1 Peter 4:10
- Where’s your favorite place to take an out-of-town guest? Perkin’s Orchard! The produce stand by my house.
- What was your favorite TV show when you were a child? Doug, Rugrats, Ghost Writer, Saved by the Bell, California Dreams, Step by Step, Sister Sister, Moesha… hahahah I was a child of the 90s.
- Are you more likely to avoid conflict or engage it head-on? Avoid…
- Are you a fan of any sports team? Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, North Carolina Tar Heels
- What is good about how you are living your life right now? I feel like I’m in a really strong place spiritually right now which trickles down to everything else.
- If you could eliminate one weakness or limitation in your life, what would it be? Fear of stepping out into the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of failure
- Who has left the most impact on your life? My mom
- What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen in your life? A dude in a full on clown suit walking down the highway.
- Who is the best teacher you’ve ever had? Ms. Braaten – she taught me in English in high school
- Who is the biggest pack rat you know? My mom was 1000000%
- Who is the first person you call when something exciting happens? My husband!
- Who is the first person you call when something horrible happens? My husband!
- Who is the worst boss you’ve ever had? Has to be the boss I had at a restaurant I worked at here in North Carolina when I first moved. She was SO MEAN.
- Do you save old greeting cards and letters? Throw them away? Some, not all. I save everything my husband has ever given me and I STILL have notes from friends from MIDDLE SCHOOL.
- Do you sleep with the lights on or off? Off… along with an eye mask.
- Do you prefer Titanic or The Notebook? The Notebook
- Do you have a garden? Yes!
- Do you have a hidden dream that you’ve never shared with anyone? I’d still love to be on SNL someday in some capacity… realistically at this point it would be through hosting… so I’d need to like, star in a movie in order to do that…
- Do you hold any convictions that you would be willing to die for? My faith in Jesus and my love of my family.
- Who sent the last text message you received? My friend April.
- Who was the last person you ate dinner with? My family and Emma (who is like family!)
- What is your most embarrassing moment? Has to be falling down the risers in the middle of a choral concert in high school. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG. I was doing a step touch situation that went awry.
- What is something that amazes you? How quickly my children are growing up before my eyes.
- What is at the top of your bucket list? Visit all 7 continents in my lifetime.
- What scares you about aging? Honestly I think it’s just losing loved ones.
- Would you ever consider living abroad? Yes, definitely.
- What book are you reading at the moment? Reading a few at the moment: fiction – “On the Come Up” by Angie Thomas, nonfiction / business – “Talk to Me” by Dean Nelson
