CLIC Conference & NC Blogger Buzz Recaps & Funday Monday Link-Up!

If you follow me on Instagram, I want to apologize for the overload of conference photos and group selfies I posted on Friday. I had the honor and privilege of being asked to speak at (and attend) two separate conferences that day and I was kinda going overboard on the sharing. BUT, with good reason – it was an AMAZING day.

During the day, I attended the CLIC Conference which was a conference for women photographers and business owners. I, along with three other speakers, Megan Huber, Amanda Hedgepeth, and Katelyn James, spoke into the lives of about 50 women – it was AMAZING, inspiring, and all those feel-good words you can think of.

My talk was called “Not About Me: Understanding What Social Media is Really All About.” I started off by getting everyone moving and interacting… as you can see below, the ladies are acting as “martians.” You kinda had to be there…

The venue for CLIC was the oh-so-gorgeous Angus Barn in Raleigh, NC. I LOVE the decor there.

Facilitating some exercises…

I have learned that I make EXTREMELY awkward faces when I speak… Okay, I make awkward faces 99% of the time.

After lunch, Amanda Hedgepeth got up and spoke to the group on work / life balance. Oh, my Lord… did I need to hear that one. She had such great insight and was so inspirational. She has TWO kids and owns a full-time photography business. She is my heroine!

Then Katelyn got up and spoke about creating community. Katelyn was our wedding photographer and is someone whom I consider to be a dear friend. I was blown away by her poise, her wisdom, her knowledge… the whole nine yards. She is amazing in every sense of the word. 

It was truly an amazing event and I walked away feeling energized, inspired, and ready to take on the world. If you’re in the Northern Virginia area (or, are willing to travel) CLIC is having another conference in Alexandria, Virginia in AUGUST of 2014! You should go. No, seriously. You should.

THEN, that night, I headed to Cameron Village in Raleigh to Bevello for the NC Blogger Buzz conference! This conference is a semi-annual conference of bloggers from all across the state who get together to talk about what we love to talk about… BLOGGING! 🙂  Ashley of Dancing with Ashley and Angela of Head to Toe Chic organized it and did an AMAZING job – and they were so sweet to ask me to come speak to the group about sponsors and working with brands. Bevello is a GORGEOUS store and the setup was just PERFECT.

I learned so much from so many people and it was one of those things where I walked away from the day totally exhausted, yet also totally rejuvenated. I love getting to talk about things I’m passionate about with people who are ALSO passionate about those things. And I love getting to learn from and glean from other women who know WAY more than I do!
