REVIEW | Studio Gear CC Cream
Let me keep it real with you for a minute… I remember when BB creams and CC creams first started being popular and for the LONGEST time (like, way too long for someone who loves beauty products), I had NO IDEA what in the heck a BB or CC cream was. I mean, I knew it went on your face, but I just had no concept of its actual purpose or what it did.
Embarrassing, I know. Am I the only one that had no idea what they were for a while? No? Well, anyway… moving on.
So, I hopped on the BB cream band wagon last summer and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked using one in lieu of my normal daily moisturizer. Then, I heard about CC creams and had been wanting to try one for a while… CC, in some circles, stands for “color correcting” or “color control” – and my skin has a habit of getting really red for no apparent reason at all. It’s the Irish blood in me, I tell ya.
The folks at Studio Gear cosmetics sent me their new CC cream to try and I was really interested to give it a shot to see if I’d like it. What I typically like about BB or CC creams is that it gives you just “enough” coverage without being too overdone, but they’re also moisturizing… SO, they’re great to put on when you’re just out and about and don’t have time to do a full face of makeup.
I haven’t used too many Studio Gear products in the past, but I’m familiar enough with the brand to know that they produce quality stuff… so I thought, what the hey? I’ll give it a shot.
Their CC cream actually comes out of the tube WHITE (pictured below), and as you blend it in (I used a beauty sponge to apply it), it melds with your skin tone (or something) and turns into your shade. For what it’s worth, I am in the color “Linen.”
It does apply really smoothly… it’s not thick at all and feels basically just like a regular moisturizer. It smells a little funky right out of the tube, but that goes away once it’s applied. I also love that it has SPF 20 in it… this girl has GOT to use sunscreen otherwise I go from white to lobster.
So, prepare yourself, below I have absolutely NO makeup on in the left picture and only the CC cream in the right picture. Scary, I know. 🙂
When I look at the before and after in photos, I honestly don’t see that big of a difference… in person I felt like there was a little more of a difference, but it just doesn’t show up as well in photos. My skin definitely looks a little more even on the right and the redness isn’t as noticeable, but it definitely isn’t a HUGE change.
If you’re looking for a full coverage cream or foundation, then this one is not the one for you… BUT, if you’re looking for just some really subtle, smooth coverage, something that moisturizes and protects your skin… then this is definitely a great cream for you!
Is it my favorite CC cream ever? No.
Do I like it? Absolutely.
Will I continue to use it? Definitely!
Would I recommend trying it out? Totally! You never know, you may LOVE it. Or hey, you could hate it, too. You’ll never know unless you try it.
Is it worth the $34 price point? Maybe, maybe not. In all honesty, you could probably find a CC cream that’s just as good for less money. Yeah, I said it. BUT, again, it may work better for you! So, I do still recommend trying it.
If you are, in fact, interested in trying out the Studio Gear CC cream (or any other Studio Gear cosmetics product, for that matter), use code “BLOGGERCC” for 10% off your purchase!!
What about you? Have you jumped on the CC cream bandwagon? Do you have a favorite CC cream? Will you give this a try? Thoughts? Feelings? 🙂

Awesome review. BB creams came out in Korea forever ago and yeah I had no idea what it was but literally everyone used it. Lately I’ve been using the Smashbox cream just on days when I need to go out but no where special. I don’t look as good as you do without makeup on…
So glad someone else felt the same way! lol It’s my first CC cream (and never tried BB) and I wasn’t thoroughly impressed. However, the foundation I have right now makes me look like an oompa loompa (and sadly it’s the 2nd lightest shade…) so I’ve continued using this, just have to go heavy on the concealer because it didn’t help with redness at all. I’m not sure if I misunderstood the “color correcting” aspect of it, but I kinda was disappointed it didn’t help with that. lol But I pretty much said almost the exact same things in mine (just far less eloquently and with less awesome pictures! 😉 haha!)
