When it comes to fashion and style, to me, there’s really nothing like classic pieces. Trendy pieces are great – I love trends! But trends come and go and classic pieces really tend to transcend through the years… I guess that’s what makes them classic, right?
If you live in the south, you’ve probably heard of the department store, Belk. Or, let’s be honest, “Belks,” as most southern women say. But seriously… why is it that every woman adds an “S” onto the end of store names? No? Anyway. Well, Belk just recently launched their first totally exclusive line of clothing called “crown & ivy.” Crown & ivy incorporates a modern twist on the classic southern styles. What I LOVE about the line is it is FULL of versatile pieces, lady like dresses, and even some bold patterns. The fabrics are gorgeous, they’re all clearly well made, and they really epitomize modern southern style.
So, today I’m sharing with y’all four different looks featuring some of my favorite items from the crown & ivy collection!
I absolutely LOVE this dress. For one, it has POCKETS. Which y’all know I can’t turn down a dress that has pockets. I LOVE the fun print. It’s super lightweight so it is going to be perfect for backyard bbq’s or even a wedding! I never used to really like the color blue, but I’ve really become drawn to it recently – and I just love the bold blues in this dress!!
This is also a dress you could easily dress down by throwing a denim jacket over it and wearing some TOMS or other flat shoes. 
As if I needed another excuse to get another denim jacket… but I am a huge fan of this one from the crown & ivy collection. It fits like a glove and it was totally on sale when I got it. So there. I also am pretty much in love with this knit, tribal print top. The detailing on it is just gorgeous… the pattern is actually stitched on so it gives it almost a 3D effect. It’s really a top that you can wear all year round.
This dress makes me feel like I’m a girl straight out of the 70s, but at the same time, the classic shift dress style makes it feel very modern. I just LOVE this dress! When I tried this dress on for John I think he actually gasped a little bit. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but he really liked it. I am pretty sure this is the dress I’m going to wear to John’s cousin’s wedding next weekend! I feel so feminine in it. And, of course, it goes PERFECTLY with my favorite blue heels.
I LOVE a classic blazer and when I saw this knit schoolboy style blazer in the crown & ivy line, I knew I’d love it… and love it, I do. It’s SO comfortable, it’s not stiff like some blazers have a tendency to be, and it goes with everything. I can think of about 25 different ways to wear it! And this crochet front tank? I’m pretty sure I need it in every color. I have worn it a few times already and get compliments on it EVERY time I wear it!

I was responding to your Belk’s question…..A while back it was known as Belk’s then they changed their name to just Belk. But most of us still refer to it as Belk’s.
I’m almost positive it has always been Belk- no “s”. In my home town, it was “Matthews Belk” until a few years ago. The Matthews family left the franchise and it became just “Belk”. However, people rarely call it that. I’ve seen pictures of the store taken in the 50’s on the Facebook page “I grew up in Gastonia”. There’s no “s” on the sign.

How have I never heard of this shop before ? A couple of my favorite items are the JBS Beaded Halter Blouson Dress and the Kim Rodgers Solid Knit Dress. I love this line!! I don’t know that I’ve heard of it until now. The pieces you chose look GREAT on you!!! I mean it, I love it on you. No kidding. I was at a funeral last week sitting beside a woman in a beautiful skirt. Later I asked where she got it. It was this brand at Belk! I haven’t been in Belk in years and her skirt made me want to take a trip. All these looks are stunning on you!
