I go back and forth on what my “favorite” season is. I typically like to think spring is my favorite season, but then when fall begins to peek through the door, I get SO excited for fall and I say that fall is my favorite season.
Between the arrival of football, the crisp weather, pumpkins, leaves falling, annnnnd the September issues of fashion magazines – it’s pretty much a recipe for awesomeness. The September issues are always my favorite issues because they are HUGE, they’re chock full of gorgeous editorials, trend updates, style ideas, and more. It’s every fashion magazine lover’s dream.
I picked up the September issues of Vogue and InStyle from Target this week! (Which, by the way, if you pick up two copies of either Vogue, InStyle or Elle between now and September 13th, you get a free $5 Target gift card! Winning.) I love unwinding on the weekend by taking a bath and reading a magazine… pretty much my favorite.
Anyway, as I was reading getting inspired for the fall, I was noticing that a lot of florals and earthy tones were gracing the pages of Vogue. Once thing I try to do when I look at trends, especially in fashion magazines, is figure out how I can make them my own – rather than trying to replicate something that a model is wearing.
The earthy tones and romantic floral patterns immediately made me think of this dress from Joules. I LOVE it. For so many reasons. 1) It’s comfortable. 2) It’s feminine and I just feel dang pretty in it. 3) IT HAS POCKETS.
I also love it because it really is the perfect dress to wear during that awkward time between summer and fall. It’s still blazing hot here in North Carolina, BUT, we have these strangely cool mornings and evenings – so it can often make getting dressed a bit of a challenge. Do I wear pants? Shorts? A scarf? A sweater? A parka? I CAN’T DECIDE!
This is one of those dresses that’s perfect for wearing on it’s own with the sleeves rolled up or great for throwing on with some tights and boots and a denim jacket.
Plus, the earthy tones and adorable floral print mean it’s totally trendy, too. Right? Right!
What about you? How are you transitioning to fall weather and fashion? Any trends you’ve seen in the September issues of fashion magazines lately that have inspired you?

Is it weird that I still love this dress? If you ever decide to sell (if you still have it) I so call dibs.
Holy crap, Molly! You look stunning in this dress! I don’t usually want to go out and buy the exact items that bloggers have, but if I weren’t saving money to pay of debt right now, I’d buy that dress IMMEDIATELY! It’s gorgeous!

I am the same way with seasons. My favorite changes and once I am about halfway through one season I get excited for the next one.
Pretty dress! These are the same patterns we used to wear toward the end of my high school and shortly after. I try not to admit that too much because that was a while ago 🙂

That dress. Oh my goodness. I love it so much and it looks stunning on you. The pockets, the cut, the sleeves, and even the print. If it wasn’t $86 I would be buying it for myself right now, even though I’m not your typical floral kind of girl. I am officially going to be on the lookout for something similar. Our weather is starting to turn already and as much as I’m dreading winter I’m loving the dresses, boots, and tights that I’m getting to wear again.
That dress looks lovely on you! It’s always a bonus to find dress with pockets, isn’t it? It’s nicely paired with that adorable pair of shoes too.
It’s still very hot in Sacramento so I have not transitioned nor have not prepared myself to transition to fall yet. We also get cool mornings and nights but I figure in the rare occasion I’ll venture at night, I will just bring a denim jacket just in case I can’t stand the cold.
Thanks for hosting and have a great week!
