RECIPE | Insanely Delicious Salsa Verde
To say that we are a fan of salsa in this house is a bit of an understatement. To say that we are a fan of Mexican food is also a bit of an understatement. Mexican food is basically a food group in this household.
My favorite salsa of all time is and will always be the Tortilla Factory Salsa, BUT, my second favorite salsa is EASILY the medium / green salsa verde from Chipotle. Sadly, I have YET to be able to find the recipe online or duplicate a recipe even close to it.
However, in my latest attempt to make my beloved Chipotle’s salsa verde from home, I sort of accidentally stumbled upon this recipe and WOOWEE… it is DELICIOUS. I brought the salsa out with some chips for a girl’s night and for our small group at our house and everyone kept asking me where I got the salsa. Haha! I made it! That’s how you know it’s good. 🙂
Anyway, because it was such a hit and because I ended up loving the salsa so much myself, I thought I’d share the salsa verde love with y’all!
But yeah, if anyone knows the Chipotle salsa verde recipe… hook a sister up!
In the meantime, enjoy this one because mmmmm it is GOOD.
RECIPE | Insanely Delicious Salsa Verde
Ingredients
- 5 to matillos husks removed and quartered
- 1 small red tomato quartered
- 1 small white onion peeled and quartered
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 Jalapeno peppers diced (remove the seeds if you want to tone down the spice of the salsa... leave the seeds if you like a kick in your salsa. I, personally, leave the seeds! :))
- Dash of crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
- Juice from 1/2 lime I, personally, love to use 1-2 drops of Young Living lime essential oil!
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender. I prefer a food processor because of the consistency it creates in the salsa. Blend or process until desired consistency. Taste the salsa! If it tastes a bit "off," I tend to add a little more salt, a little more red pepper flakes, and / or a little more lime.
-
Serve and enjoy! I store my salsa in mason jars in the refrigerator and it lasts for about two weeks.
*This recipe is heavily adapted from this one I found.
What do you think? Will you give this recipe a try? Are you a salsa fan like me? 🙂
Have a happy and safe Halloween!
Salsa verde is one of my FAVORITES I am definitely going to have to try this.
