December Stitch Fix Maternity Review & a Gift Idea for the Ladies on Your List!

It’s another month and time for another Stitch Fix maternity review. I’ve been having a lot of fun this pregnancy with finding different ways to style both maternity and non-maternity clothing. And it’s also been a lot of fun to receive these maternity fixes to add different pieces to my wardrobe.

For this fix, I requested a few specific things from my stylist, Kimberly J.:

1. Maternity skinny jeans – I can no longer wear my non-maternity jeans and I don’t have any maternity skinny jeans… so I was feeling desperate.
2. Sweaters – it’s starting to get cold in NC and I have no sweaters to fit over my belly…
3. A dress to wear to a wedding and for a baby “sprinkle” my friends are throwing me in January

Kimberly happily obliged my requests and she sent some GREAT pieces (and a few not-so-awesome ones, too… haha!). She definitely still has my style down PAT and does such a great job putting together fixes for me!

Without further ado, let’s get to this month’s Stitch Fix maternity review…

Fate “Goodwin Cowl Neck Sweater” – Size XL – $64

I pretty much knew right out of the box that this sweater was a keeper! It is INSANELY soft. I realize I say that a lot… but it’s the honest truth… this sweater is SO soft. And, bonus, it’s not actually “maternity” – it just WORKS for maternity. It is the perfect “throw on” sweater for running errands, running to the store, around the house, etc. And it’s long enough that it works for wearing with jeans or with leggings.

I know that I will get A LOT of wear and use out of this sweater, so it was a no-brainer to keep.

Verdict: Keep!

Liverpool “Mira Maternity Skinny Jean” – Size 12 – $78

I will be honest, I went back and forth on these skinny jeans and whether or not to keep them. I have another pair of Liverpool maternity jeans from a previous fix, but the ones I already own are straight leg, not skinny. Since I specifically requested maternity skinny jeans, these were a great option. I do love the wash and they are REALLY soft and comfortable. My only gripe is that the Liverpool jeans tend to fall down a lot… so I have to keep pulling them up. I realize that’s not a huge deal, but it can kind of get annoying.

Honestly, in the end, I decided to keep them because they are a great neutral skinny jean and I DESPERATELY needed some maternity skinny jeans… They are a little long, but that’s nothing a good cuff job can’t fix!

Verdict: Keep!

RD Style “Kari Fringe Detail Cardigan” – Size XL – $78

My stylist, Kimberly J., always loves to try new pieces with me and send me something a little out of my normal style… and while this definitely fits that bill, I was just not a fan of this sweater at all.

For the price, I didn’t feel the material was high quality enough… it actually felt kind of cheap. I also didn’t like the way that it lay on me… it just looked and felt unflattering. The fringe detail is a faux leather which I liked, but not enough to warrant the price and keeping it.

It was a definite no and definite return.

Verdict: Return

Leota Maternity “Dariah Maternity Abstract Faux Wrap Dress” – Size XL – $108

Kimberly sent me this dress as an option for both the wedding I was attending and my upcoming “sprinkle” / baby shower.

I really wanted to love this dress… but for some reason, I just couldn’t. I liked the fit and felt it was flattering, but I actually really disliked the material of the dress. It’s hard to describe, but it’s sort of that polyester / satin / stretchy material that you find on a lot of wrap dresses. It’s just not my favorite material. Also, I didn’t love the print.

If the dress had been another material and another print, I probably would have kept it… but for the price, I felt it wasn’t a $108 dress…

Verdict: Return

Eight Sixty Maternity “Gabre Eyelet Maternity Dress” – Size L – $88

This dress was another option for the wedding and my baby “sprinkle” – and it’s another one that I knew pretty much out of the box that I would keep. The color is a STUNNING plum color and the material is the perfect amount of soft and stretchy.

It’s also cut in such a way that it works great for maternity, but could easily be worn when you’re not pregnant. I also think it will work great to dress up with tights and heels or dress down with leggings and boots. There are a ton of ways that you could style and wear this dress!

I actually ended up wearing it to a wedding this past weekend and got a lot of compliments on it! So, I’d say it’s a winner!!

Verdict: Keep!
