Layered in Black | GUEST POST by Sloane Collective’s Mia Heckendorf
Hey y’all! It’s Molly, here. FIRST… THANK YOU for stopping by still being molly. If you’re new here, WELCOME! I hope you stay and take a look around! If you’re a regular reader, HEY THERE, FRIEND!
So, I just had Baby #2! I’ve got some AMAZING blog friends who are helping me out over the next few weeks by sharing some AWESOME posts. Everything from fashion and style to life and motherhood. I am so appreciative of all of these ladies for helping me and giving me a little bit of a breather as I take some time to rest and spend time with my family. I didn’t do a great job of that when Lilly was born, so I’m trying to do a little better this time. 🙂 I have some of my own content already planned and written… but I will be peppering in some of these guest posts, too! I hope you will take the time to read them and leave them some love! I also hope you’ll take the time to visit their blogs and check them out. Each one of them is amazing.
Thank you for supporting me, this blog, and my family! I might be biased, but I think I have the best readers around! 🙂
xo, Molly
Today’s guest post is from my girl Mia over at the Sloane Collective. Mia is not only a blog friend, but also a dear friend of mine in real life. She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! Enjoy!

It is that time of year when it is cold and I’m tired of wearing bundles of layers. I have collected staple black pieces in my closet that no matter what kind of mood I am in or the effort I’m willing to exert to put an outfit together doesn’t matter because I already know these pieces can be mixed and matched together. These pieces are every woman’s saving grace. Even if the black is a slight shade different, it only adds dimension to the look. I highly recommend mixing medias (fur, silk, wool…) into one look to add more intrigue. This can also “up the glam” depending on what you are looking to do.
I used to sacrifice warmth and comfort for fashion…maybe it is the years passing by…but I’d much rather be at least warm in a look this time of year. By incorporating classic pieces such as a solid black wool coat or simple black fur vest, I can wear it with just about any item of clothing I own.
Where to buy these pieces? I do agree investing in quality is important; however, I don’t believe in having to break the bank. I call these smart pieces. There are great stores out there (like Banana Republic or Nordstrom Rack) that offer great sales on already trustworthy merchandise, you just need to be diligent in your search. The only rules you need to go by are ones that make you feel comfortable and overall gorgeous!
