Amos is Two Months Old!
If you can believe it, I certainly can’t…, but another month has gone by and Amos is TWO MONTHS OLD. Time is the worst. I honestly don’t remember time flying like this when Lilly was born… but man, these two months have gone by so quickly.
Amos is just a joy and such a sweetie. We are SO thankful for this handsome little guy and he’s brought so much life to our family already (and he can’t even talk or walk yet!)
To be honest, I never pictured myself as a boy mom – I just thought I’d always be a girl mom… but man, they are right when they say there’s something special about little boys. He is already a mama’s boy and I love it. I treasure this sweet guy and thank the Lord that He placed Amos in our lives.
Amos’s Two Month Update
Weight: ~11 lbs
Length: ~21.5″
Head Circumference: 15.1″
Nicknames: Baby boy. Sweet boy. Monkey. Mr. Man. Monkey Man. Sweet Monkey.
Sleep: Honestly, he sleeps pretty well for a two month old. Nowhere near sleeping through the night yet, but I can usually get a stretch of sleep out of him from about 8pm till midnight or 1am. And then he’s pretty much every three hours after that. He takes about three solid naps a day – morning, mid-day, and a catnap in the evening. His “wake” time is still relatively short, but he’s definitely more alert than before.
I can’t complain because, for the most part, when he wakes up, I can feed him and he will go right back to sleep. But, we are definitely still getting up about 2-3 times a night. So, I’m tired. 🙂
Eating: Homeboy still nurses like a champ. He’s going through a growth spurt right now so it feels like he wants to nurse all day long… but in reality it’s about every 2-3 hours. He really can’t go much longer than 3 hours without WAILING. When he gets hungry, he gets MAD. So mad. Until you feed him, he just SCREAMS. Again, I can’t complain because I’m very thankful that he’s such a good eater… and he’s growing SO MUCH so clearly he’s got eating down!
Diapers: He is in size 1 diapers… his legs are still just a little too small for the cloth diapers we have, but I think he will be mostly in cloth diapers by the end of the month!
Clothing: With the exception of a couple of “larger” newborn items, he’s exclusively in 0-3 month and 3 month clothing now. He’s growing like a weed. I cried a little putting away his newborn clothing. I seriously can’t believe how quickly he outgrew it all! He was SO tiny when he was born and he has just SHOT UP.
Mood: Unless he is hungry or tired, this boy is so happy. Now, when he is hungry and tired, he gets MAD. So, so mad. Inconsolable mad. He doesn’t really fuss when he has a dirty diaper, but if he is hungry or tired, watch out. He’s got some lungs on him. BUT, if he’s got a full belly, a clean diaper, and he’s well rested? He is SO happy. He started smiling this month and he just can’t stop won’t stop. I love it. His smile lights up his whole face and it makes my day! I think he will be giggling and laughing soon!
Loves:
- Being worn – whether it is my Sakura Bloom ring slings, the Tula, or a wrap, he is all about being close and being worn.
- His kick and play piano. My dad and Cindy got him one and he loves it! He’s such a good little kicker.
- Smiling.
- Eating
Doesn’t Love:
- Being cold
- Being hungry or tired (he gets MAD when he is hungry or tired)
- Baths (hilarious because Lilly LOVED baths from the beginning)
- Being beat up by his big sister. (She loves him… HARD. A little too hard sometimes. :))
What I Want to Remember: His smiles are seriously the greatest. It really does make my day when he smiles and for that, I’m so thankful. I love the sweet, tender moments with him and Lilly (which, admittedly, are rare). Lilly is adjusting to being a big sister and she really does love him, but she is struggling with the attention change and understanding of the word “gentle.”
I’m just thankful for the snuggles and the cuddles and the newborn smell. I’m really trying to cherish these moments of him being so sweet and tiny.
We also dedicated Amos at church this month and it was so special to have him wear our family christening gown and for all our family to be surrounding us as we dedicated Amos in the name of the Lord.
Mommy: I’m hanging in there. I have good days and I have bad days. Having two kids is teaching me grace and patience. Grace and patience. Grace and patience.
Daddy: John really is the best dad. He LOVES being a dad and is so quick to jump in when I am feeling overwhelmed and I need help. I’m so thankful for him and couldn’t ask for a better partner to do this whole parenting thing with.
What I’m Looking Forward To: We will be taking our first family road trip in a few weeks (wish us luck!) and I’m also looking forward to just getting out and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
Happy Two Months, Amos James! We love you!
