The Sweetest Handmade Toys You Ever Did See | Child’s Cup Full
Today’s “Fashion for Good” post is a little different because, technically, it’s not about a fashion brand… but it’s still a company that produces their goods ethically, they’re working in an impoverished community providing hope, opportunities, and jobs to women, and they’re in the process of getting their official fair trade certification as we speak! They also manufacture something that is near and dear to my heart: children’s toys!
Child’s Cup Full is a non-profit, social enterprise organization that has a vision and a mission to provide lasting economic opportunities to refugee and low-income communities in the West Bank. Currently, they employ six full-time artisans (along with several more part-time artisans) and Child’s Cup Full works to train them in the skill of making handcrafted, educational children’s toys. Their artisan center is currently located in Zababdeh, a small village in the northern West Bank.
They actually have a goal of growing to 30 artisans by the end of 2016 and have artisan centers in Ramallah, Hebron and Bethlehem. They truly believe in their mission that by providing economic opportunities for these women and artisans, that these refugee and marginalized communities can really thrive.
Earlier this week, I actually got to sit down with Cayley, the assistant director for Child’s Cup Full (she lives near me and we met and sat down and chatted for over an hour and a half!!) and it was so amazing to hear her first-hand experience working with these women, seeing the artisan center, and hearing about all the progress that has been made and the life-change that’s taking place in the community of Zababdeh.
Right now they are running an Indiegogo campaign to raise (much needed) funds to be able to establish a fully self-sustaining wholesale and retail operation! The more money they raise, the more they can expand their reach across the West Bank region. This is truly an area that often gets forgotten and neglected when it comes to linking arms with the people who would so greatly benefit from partnership and support in their lives!
Any donation amount helps and the money donated through the Indiegogo campaign goes directly to help Child’s Cup Full expand their reach and impact more lives! And with donation amounts of $20, $30, $40, etc. you can even get some toys handmade by the women!
Cayley gave me the set of plush blocks and the mommy / baby dinosaur set for my littles to play with and they are absolutely ADORABLE! (Lilly LOVES them! Amos doesn’t quite know what to do with them yet… haha! But they sure are adorable! :))
I love the personal, unique nature of the toys and how beautiful they are. They even have more amazing and adorable educational toys on their website! So many of them would make great gifts, too!!
So, join me and support Child’s Cup Full! Donate a little or a lot! Like I said, every little bit counts and makes a difference! (And yes! Your donation(s) is/are tax deductible! WOOP!)
What about you? Have you heard of Child’s Cup Full? Any other amazing organizations out there doing good in the world that I should know about?
*This is not a sponsored post. I did receive the plush blocks and dinosaur set as a gift from Child’s Cup Full, but this post and my opinions are 100% my own. I really love what Child’s Cup Full is doing and believe in their mission!
Those blocks are so cute and what a great company!
