Look Alive in 5 | Mom’s Five Minute All-Natural Makeup Tutorial (& Link-Up)
Y’all know that I love makeup and I love what makeup can do. I’m certainly no expert or anything like that, but I have always loved playing around with makeup and trying out different looks. For the last year or so, I have been gradually trying to change out my old makeup for better quality, more natural, and non-toxic makeup. This is no small task! But, I’m loving trying out new stuff.
Also, in keeping it real, I don’t have a lot of time these days to actually get ready and put on makeup. BUT, since I’m running on so little sleep, I have come up with what I call my “Look Alive in 5” five minute makeup tutorial.
This is really just to show you guys what I do as more of my “everyday” look when I am trying to do my makeup and get ready FAST and out the door.
I hope you like!
Look Alive in 5 | Mom’s Five Minute All-Natural Makeup Tutorial
Here’s the before…
First, I always start by filling in my brows.
For this, I say use what you have… I will be honest, I have yet to find a really great eyebrow pencil or brow gel that is natural or non-toxic. So, for now, I will stick with what I have… If you know of a great brow product, let me know! I love trying new ones out.
Here I’m using the Milani Easybrow Pencil in Natural Taupe.
Next, time to prime your eyelids.
I have recently discovered the Tarte Colored Clay CC eye primer stick and I love it! The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is SO HARD TO OPEN… Maybe it’s just me, but I have the hardest time getting the cap off. Other than that, the product itself is awesome and really holds my eyeshadows in place all day.
I love that Tarte products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates, and without gluten.
Just apply the primer all over your lids.
Next up, eyeshadow.
There’s an amazing new all-natural beauty store in my town (that also has an online store!!) called Be Pure Beauty. The owner, April, is literally one of the sweetest people ever! Anyway, I was in there a couple weeks ago looking around and fell in LOVE with this makeup line April carries called Alima Pure. Alima Pure is an all-natural makeup line that is also a certified B corporation. Their products are free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates, dimethicone, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, and nanoparticles. AND they’re never tested on animals.
ANYWAY.
I am in. love. with Alima Pure’s luminous shimmer eyeshadow. I am using the color “Chai” and it is just such a gorgeous, shimmery champagne color. (It also has a rating of “2” on EWG’s Skin Deep)
Just swipe the color all over the lid. It gives such a pretty wash of color and shimmer (without looking too glittery).
Then, my favorite part is mascara!
April at Be Pure Beauty also carries the makeup line, 100% Pure. Their makeup is all natural (hence the company name), made in the USA, and the ingredients are made from fruit extracts – which is amazing!
I just started using 100% Pure’s fruit pigmented mascara in “Black Tea.” This mascara smells AMAZING! (It also has a rating of “2” on EWG’s Skin Deep database)
Apply a couple coats of mascara to your lashes…
And, because this is real life, take a break from doing your makeup to pick up your fussy, teething baby and soothe him.
Once the baby soothing is done… time for face.
For my “everyday” makeup, I don’t wear foundation… I love using a tinted moisturizer!
I have heard so many great things about BeautyCounter and have been wanting to try their stuff. Earlier this summer, the sweet Tara sent me this BeautyCounter Dew Skin tinted moisturizer to try out. Well, as you can see, this stuff has gotten used A LOT. I’ve been using it daily and love it. It has SPF20 and has a “2” rating on Skin Deep.
I just use my fingers to apply the Dew Skin all over my face… The dew skin is definitely not medium or full coverage. It is a light coverage that just evens your skin tone and provides great daily sun protection.
Next is highlight / blush.
I looooooove a pretty, shimmery highlight and I am now truly obsessed with 100% Pure’s luminizer. I honestly am borderline obsessed with this product! It works as a highlight, but also works as a shimmery-blush, too!
I use a fan brush to apply this to the tops of my cheek bones.
Next, pick up fussy son again and get ready to apply something on your lips.
For me, on a daily basis, I love just a moisturizer rather than lipstick because, you know, #momlife.
I love the Juice Beauty USDA organic lip moisturizer. I got it in my Summer CAUSEBOX and I’ve been loving it!
And then voila! You’re done! This whole process (minus the tending to the fussy baby) honestly takes less than 5 minutes.
Left is before, right is after.
It’s a very subtle look, certainly nothing dramatic… this look is really just your “I need to look alive and get ready in less than 5 minutes” makeup look.
After 🙂
What do you think? Will you give this a try? Any products you’ve been loving lately? What does your “Look Alive in 5” makeup routine look like for you?

My makeup routine with a toddler and 6 week old is very similar! Lately I haven’t even been putting on anything (I barely shower or brush my teeth until night), but I did this morning and it makes me feel so much better. I’ve also been switching out products for more natural versions and wish I’d hurry up and use some things up so I buy some new stuff!
Your look-alive look is most definitely one I’d go for in a heartbeat, Molly 🙂 have you tired W3LL People and/or Lily Lolo?
I love W3Ll! I’ll def check out lily lolo!!
Loooove your natural makeup look! It is perfect for mammas with kids who loves lots of kisses 🙂

I’m all about using highlighter to look more awake and glow-y than I feel! Haha. I love your nails!
This is great, I wish I had eyelashes so I could apply any type of mascara, for now I can’t even do mascara as I have no eyelashes, they are so short you can’t even see them even with mascara! 🙂 This is so simple and easy, great job!
I love quick and easy makeup routines! I love that you still look natural, but just a bit more glow-y. I think I need that highlighter!!
I’m excited to open another exciting collaboration with Los Angeles-based brand TOBI starting this week at the blog – please stop by & lemme know what you think!
Happy Monday!

You look gorgeous! I have a pretty solid 5 minute make up routine myself. It has served me well for as long as I can remember! In fact, I can actually complete it in about 3 minutes…even better for a momma with 2 young and very demanding boys!

You’re always gorgeous! I still prefer to fill in my brows because they’re so sparse at the ends, but have you checked out Glossier’s Boy Brow? I’m not well-versed in ingredients unfortunately, but I do now it doesn’t have parabens. It’s one of my favorite brow gels I’ve used.
You look beautiful either way!
Thank you for hosting and hope you are having a fab week!
