Five Ways to Wear the LulaRoe Carly Dress (& Link-Up)
Okay… getting this out of the way immediately… LulaRoe has created YET ANOTHER PIECE I AM IN LOVE WITH. I PROMISE y’all… LulaRoe has NO CLUE who I am. I am not a consultant. I do not work for LulaRoe. I just love their clothes. PINKY PROMISE SWEAR. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I WISH they knew who I was and I WISH I somehow got paid for loving them so much, but alas, I am just a mere #fangirl like so many of you.
LulaRoe recently released a new style to their line – the CARLY DRESS! The Carly dress has a hi-lo hemline and is a very “boxy” swing, style dress. I. Am. In. Love.
No lie. I want the Carly dress in every color, in every print… you name it. I am obsessed. The neckline is stretchy enough that I can pull the neckline down to breastfeed in!! This is HUGE because it means I can wear it anytime and still be able to easily nurse Amos!
I honestly also love it because it’s such a simple dress that can be accessorized so easily! I love accessories like bags, necklaces, shoes, jewelry, etc… so the Carly dress is great for being able to easily mix and match with stuff like that!
Common question – SIZING? How does the Carly dress wear? It runs BIG! I am wearing a large and honestly, I think I am going to size down to a medium or small in the future. Most common thing I have heard is – size down in the Carly like you do the Irma tunic. I normally wear a small in the Irma tunic, so I’m thinking a small Carly dress would be better for me.
Anyway!
I thought it would be helpful to show a few ways (five, to be exact) to style the Carly dress!
Five Ways to Wear the LulaRoe Carly Dress
Number One – On Its Own
DUH. But seriously… I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS DRESS and it is so comfortable and I love it. I want to wear it every day of my life. I realize that would be unrealistic, but I’m serious. This dress is the BEST basic dress to accessorize with.

Number Two – With a Belt
Since the LulaRoe Carly is, by nature, a very “flowy” and swingy dress, belting it helps to give it structure and shape. A skinny belt, a thick belt, a patterned belt, a plain belt… doesn’t matter! Belting helps to bring the whole thing together and make it almost feel like you’re wearing a skirt and top! Add in a statement necklace and you are DEALING!

Number Three – Throw a Vest On It
You guys know how much I love my denim vest. I wear this thing ALL THE TIME and it is one of the best pieces I have added to my wardrobe over the years. The LulaRoe Carly is the perfect dress for adding a layering piece like a vest overtop! It gives it more structure and also adds interest!
Throw in a printed, fun bag and you are really jazzing up a simple outfit.

Number Four – Add a Ruana, Scarf or Kimono
I LOVE adding ruanas, scarves, or kimonos on outfits because they add layers and interest without necessarily adding HEAT… if you know what I mean. I live in North Carolina and while I love layers, it is WAY TOO HOT for thick layers. I loveeee this ruana from Threads for Thought / The Flourish Market because it’s lightweight, but SO beautiful and makes me feel like I’m wearing a totally different outfit!

Number Five – Belt That Scarf or Kimono
Something that REALLY helps to switch up an outfit is to think outside the box and BELT your scarf / ruana / kimono. I have been a long-time fan of belting scarves and I love that you can accessorize, while also adding interest and structure to an outfit!

This is awesome. I had my first experience with LuLaRoe yesterday and left without buying a dress which was really hard to do. Fortunately my husband saw my face and insisted I call the consultant and get a Carly dress which I had tried on. It’s red. And gorgeous. But really bright. So i was kind of scared of it. And now I can play with all the ways to wear it because of this post that tone it down just a little! Thank you!
I’m so excited to try the Carly I just ordered yesterday! I love all the ways you styled yours and definitely plan on trying all of them with my new dress!!
I love dresses like these, Molly. They’re the perfect canvas to embellish, letting our personalities shine through 🙂
I love ways how you style your dress. Beautiful!

I have not purchased from Lula Roe yet, but now I am really leaning in that direction. This dress is fantastic and so versatile! It looks super comfortable, so flattering, and so fun! I really love it styled with the ruana! What great looks!

I saw where someone did the “quarter trick” on the back of it (like by the bra line) and it looked so cute that way! Basically you use a rubber band and a quarter inside the dress to give it a “rouching” or gathering of sorts. It looked super cute.
So many great ways to style a t-shirt dress. I love them all!
Super cute! I just got their Joy vest and I think it will look great over a carly!
I have been wanting to try LulaRoe for a while now but still haven’t pulled the trigger–I’m in my 3rd trimester and was planning to wait until after I wasn’t pregnant, but I keep hearing that their stuff works really well for maternity too (and I think you did a post on that!). I may have to try that dress, I love it!!
Yes! I wore LLR for a majority of my last pregnancy! It’s so great!
What a fab dress! So versatile and a great colour too!
