Fall CAUSEBOX 2016 Review | #ForGoodFriday
I realize I’ve said this before, but I will say it again… I am seriously like a kid on Christmas morning when my CAUSEBOX arrives on my doorstep! I kid you not. It is, by far, one of my favorite subscription services EVER.
For those of you that DON’T know, you may be wondering: What is CAUSEBOX?
CAUSEBOX is a quarterly subscription box that is filled with a very intentionally and seasonally curated selection of socially conscious products that are all from companies with hearts to change the world. What does that mean, exactly? Well, it means that every single piece that you receive inside the box is produced or sold by a company / brand / group / organization that is doing everything they can to make a positive impact on the world.
Every single product inside of every single CAUSEBOX helps to provide dignified jobs, meals, education, clean water, and MORE to countless men, women, and children across the globe. Additionally, CAUSEBOX has been able to donate over 20,000 (yes, TWENTY THOUSAND) meals and been able to support artisan groups in every corner of the world.
HOW AWESOME IS THAT?
This Fall CAUSEBOX is actually my fourth one and I have loved every single one! You can actually read my past CAUSEBOX reviews here, here, and here. (Use the code “stillbeingmolly” for $10 off your first CAUSEBOX!)
So this season’s Fall box is all about good living and answering the question: “What does it means to live well?”
So, keep reading to check out what was in the box, what I thought, and a little about the company behind each product…
FALL 2016 CAUSEBOX REVIEW
DOGEARED JEWELRY “BALANCE” NECKLACE – $54.00 RETAIL VALUE
Each piece that Dogeared produces, balances simplicity with deep and meaningful representation of moments and things that matter. Everything is handcrafted right in Los Angeles, California! Beyond just making beautiful things with a beautiful heart behind it, Dogeared is a certified B-corporation with a commitment to using business as a force for good.
I am a HUGE fan of Dogeared. I LOVE their brand and have been a fan of them for awhile now… so I was ESPECIALLY pumped that this necklace was in the box. It is beautiful, simple, and dainty. It’s a great necklace for every day and I love the thought behind it – And, I mean, the necklace in and of itself paid for the cost of the box!! WOOHOO!
HOBBS TEA – TEA TRAVELER PACK – $24.00 RETAIL VALUE
I love tea and Hobbs Tea is an amazing tea brand handpacked in Haleiwa, Hawaii. Every single Hobbs tea bag is hand-filled, hand-tied, and hand-sealed in small batches. All of the tea is also single origin and is curated and harvested from ultra-traditional, organic farms!
URBANA SACS “CREATIVE SAC” – $22.00 RETAIL VALUE
For Carolina Tombolesi, Urbana Sacs was a “happy accident.” After 15 years of leading design projects for a large architectural firm in Los Angeles, she was ready to connect with people on a much more personal level. While she was in the office late one night, she discovered a unique, leather-like fabric that’s made from recycled paper that could ultimately be molded and shaped in WATER. After playing around with it, Carolina loved the clean look and plethora of uses for the reclaimed material and decided to make it into a product. Thus, Urbana Sacs was born!
There are so many cool uses for this sac!! You can use it as a vase, store desk accessories, snacks, produce etc. Every single one is made by hand in Los Angeles and they have a huge commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly living.
I LOVE it and it’s so cute and I love that I can use it for so many things!
LUCKY IRON FISH – IRON SUPPLEMENT – $25.00 RETAIL VALUE
Now I’ll be honest, when I first looked at the Iron Fish I got in the box, I wasn’t quite sure what it was, what it does, or why it was even in the box to begin with. BUT, once I learned more about it and the company behind it, I fell in love!
Did you know that iron deficiency is the world’s MOST COMMON micronutrient issue? It impacts more than 3.5 BILLION people globally and mostly affects women and children in the developing world.
A man by the name of Dr. Chris Charles was working in rural Cambodia and was noticing the devastating impact that iron deficiency was having on the local community. Dr. Charles knew that you could infuse food with iron just by boiling water with a block of iron for a few minutes, but people weren’t on board with the idea. So, he decided to shape the block of iron into a fish and then the locals loved the idea. This created and effortless way to supplement iron in their diets! By immersing the iron fish in a pot of cooking water, add a little lemon juice, you can add 70 micrograms of iron to each meal… which is about 75% of the daily requirement for iron.
So, in 2014, Gavin Armstrong (an associate of Dr. Charles) founded Lucky Iron Fish and started manufacturing the fishes. For every fish sold, one is donated to a community in need. The story has been featured on Oprah, Forbes, CNN, etc. It’s amazing what impact they are having on the world!!
JENESSA WAIT – “FIND THE GOOD AND PRAISE IT” Print – $10.00 RETAIL VALUE
One of the things I look forward to most in my CAUSEBOX is the quarterly print. This one by Jenessa Wait is absolutely gorgeous. I love the phrase and the gold foil is GORGEOUS.
GRAMR GRATITUDE CO. – THANK YOU CARD SIX PACK – $16.00 RETAIL VALUE
Y’all know I am a stationary LOVER. Give me a gorgeous pack of thank you cards or notepads and I’m a happy camper. Gramr Gratitude Co. was born out of the simple idea that actively practicing gratitude can, and will, ultimately make you a happier person. I mean, think about it… the more grateful we all are, the happier we all are and thus, the world is just a better place to be!
Gramr has actually partnered with CAUSEBOX and has become one of the first ever CAUSEBOX brands!!
LIZ ALIG – UPCYCLED APRON – $42.00 RETAIL VALUE
I absolutely LOVE the Liz Alig brand. Liz Alig is an amazing ethical and sustainable fashion brand founded by Elizabeth Roney. After earning a fashion degree, working with non-profits in India and Honduras, and spending a summer in Kenya, Elizabeth started just looking at her clothing differently. She focused on the tags – where her clothes were being made and where they were coming from. She realized that there were actual people making our clothes and wanted to do better by the people behind every piece we wear.
So, she started the fashion brand and quickly realized that producing their clothing with small, fair trade cooperatives could give women in developing countries an education, a living wage, and in turn, it would make a huge difference in the life of their kids.
For this CAUSEBOX, Liz Alig collaborated with them and design a gorgeous, exclusive apron. Each apron started off as a dress shirt! The seamstresses in Haiti sorted through 10,000 shirts to find fabrics that fit with the fall box color scheme. The shirts were then washed, cut, color matched, and stitch into aprons. What an AMAZING way to upcycle textile waste and make it into something beautiful!
And last but not least… the fall CAUSEBOX design was designed by a 9-year-old!!!!
The artist is named Jasmine, she’s 9, lives in Harlem, NY and is in the fourth grade. This design is called “The Leaves” and when she grows up she wants to be an art teacher so she can paint all the time. I love it!!!
So there you have it! The Fall 2016 CAUSEBOX review!

This looks like an amazing box. I am going to have to check it out.
If it comes in a box shipped to me, I love it! It’s a problem. I really like that while I wouldn’t necessarily use everything in this box, I can think of at least one person that Incould gift each of these items to and know they would love it. Thanks for sharing this box!
I LOVE the idea of this box!
Female long distance runners (aka all of my teammates!) are always iron deficient. I’ve never heard of the Lucky Iron Fish but it sounds AMAZING. Will definitely be checking that out.
Wow, I’ve never heard of CAUSEBOX before and I absolutely love it! I’ve tried Birchbox and thought it was fun, but this is way better. Thanks so much for sharing!
