It’s been a minute since I’ve done a style post, and let me just be fully transparent with you… I have had this one in my drafts folder for almost a month. This is the last set of styled outfit pictures I took while I was pregnant. And editing them and seeing myself pregnant and seeing my pregnant belly in these images is hard. So, I thought about deleting them.
But, I don’t want to just pretend like I wasn’t pregnant or just “forget about it” altogether. So, instead, I’m not going to delete them. I’m going to share them. I’ve always said that this blog is my little corner of the internet where I hope and pray that I can make you feel like you’re hanging out with a friend and we can talk about life. Everything from our favorite mascara to the latest book we read or even our collective passions for making the world a better place.
It’s important to me. And even in the midst of this hard thing, losing a child, I don’t want to lose sight of who I am and what I do. So yes, it might seem silly to share a simple “outfit post” – but it’s so much more than that to me.
Because, beneath this seemingly very superficial post, are a lot of layers of deeper, more important things. Conversations around body image and our individual stories. Conversations around the what it looks like to purchase with purpose. Conversations around the importance of “voting” with our dollars each and every day. Conversations about self confidence and self worth and where our identity really lies…
These are the conversations I want to be having. These are the things that I think can add value to someone’s life. These are the things that I love to talk about and I love to connect with other people about.
With all that being said (phew, I am wordy lately, aren’t I?)… I wanted to introduce you to a new (to me and the United States) ethical fashion brand – October Jaipur. This amazing company makes unbelievably gorgeous handbags that are ethically and sustainably handcrafted in India.
From October Jaipur:
Inspired by the rich cultural aesthetics of desert land, Akash Sinha and Rabia Singh, founded October Jaipur, an India-based brand that values the designs and skills of their craftsman. Their talented team brings incredibly unique leather goods to life, serving a global audience, and meticulously keeping in mind the international standards of quality. October Jaipur uses products made from genuine leather and hand-woven fabric. The label offers a little something for everyone, including a plethora of leather companions for travel, wanderlust musings, brunches or dressed up evenings. This year, October Jaipur has set a goal of entering the U.S. market, providing incredible ethically handmade goods to consumers, who in turn will provide increased economic opportunity for their talented Indian artisans.
This handbag is absolutely STUNNING and it’s so beautifully made. I’ve been using it A LOT over the last two months and every time I use it, someone stops me to ask about it. I love when ethically made products are so beautiful that people want to know all about it and then I get to also tell the story behind the brand that makes it even more special.
Anyway, tell me something that’s on your mind today. What topics are you talking about a lot with your friends?
Thank you, as always, for your unwavering kindness and support. You are truly the best.
