You Might Not Know…

If you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a sharer on here. I like to share. Whether it’s a story, a tip, an anecdote, my about page, or whatever… I share. However, if you’re a new reader or even if you’re a longtime friend of mine, there may be a few things you don’t know about me.
Five Things You May Not Know About Me:
- I was voted Class Clown my senior year of high school. Shocker, right?
- My first car was a 1994 Ford Escort, 5-speed manual transmission with a license plate that said “MOLLZIE.” Awesome. Right? That car was a piece, but was a great first car. Every teenager should have a first car like my Escort.
- I took French for eight years (1st-8th grade) yet I can barely remember how to introduce myself, say how old I am, or ask where the bathroom is. Also, I took Spanish in high school which REALLY messed me up. So now, when I try to speak in Spanish OR French is comes out Franish. Or Spench. Thus, no one understands what I’m saying. It’s tragic, really.
- The only sport I’ve ever been good at is golf. I’ve played basically my whole life and even was the captain of my varsity team in high school. (A varsity team made up of all boys, mind you).
- I have had a sip of coffee ONCE in my life and it was the grossest thing ever. Coffee and I are not friends. Nope. White chocolate peppermint mochas and I, however, ARE friends. Also, Diet Coke. We’re friends. But you knew that already.
What’s something I don’t know about YOU?
Linked up today with my Wednesday friends: The Pleated Poppy, Rolled Up Pretty, Rae Gun Ramblings, and Wardrobe Wednesday
You’re so gorgeous you should have been voted “most beautiful”! 🙂 Absolutely love the outfit, and the boots are so cute, where did you get them? Would love to add them to my collection! 😀
Love, love, love the boots and the coat. The whole outfit is adorable (as usual), but those two items really stick out.
Things about me, I don’t actually know how to drive a manual. My dad tried to teach me once, but I couldn’t get it and no one has tried to teach me since. I am a cowboy boot fanatic and if I cannot get away with wearing it with boots it doesn’t tend to end up in my closet (with the exception of workout clothes and capris, but that is only because up until a year ago I wouldn’t wear shorts).
oh man i wish we lived closer so i could teach you how to drive a manual – there’s a little trick i was taught and ever since then i’ve been able to teach like 10 people how to drive!!! 🙂 🙂 i also LOVEEEEE me some cowboy boots 🙂
First of all, I’m mad impressed that your car was manual transmission – all 3 cars I’ve owned since 16 were/are manual transmission and it’s a dying art!!! 🙂 I think any girl who can drive one deserves props.
Also, this skirt is adorable. I love the way you paired it with layers.
Hmm….something you don’t know about me….I dye my hair because if I didn’t my hair would be at least 25% grey. At 31. True story.
amen to that!! i LOVE driving a manual! i would hate to drive anything else 🙂 and i love your hair color 🙂
Coffee & I are not friends either! Unless there is more sugar than coffee lol. I love your last two outfits with shorts & tights!
hahaha AMEN to that. sugar = the best in anything. thanks, raquel!
I remember my first time trying coffee – I spit it all over the table. haha. I’ve grown to like it, but only if it’s loaded with chocolate or caramel. I don’t drink it often though. I never understood why people HAVE to have a cup every morning.
hahaha i still think it’s gross!! 🙂
I love that skirt! And the boots! Honestly, I just love this outfit period. 🙂
However, I still cannot believe/understand why you do not like coffee. But that is a matter on which we can agree to disagree. 😉
Something you might not know about me: I played a Latina woman in Bye Bye Birdie (Rosie) when I was 19. I tanned like crazy (tanning bed and spray tan… awesome combo) AND wore a dark wig. It was AWESOME.
thanks, boo!!!
and a latina woman1?!?!? JESSSS!!!
Yay! I love Lilly!!! That skirt is so cute and I love how you paired it with the rich navy and camel. I too am an avid golfer, tho I don’t get to play nearly as often as I’d like. You look darling, Lovely lady!!! ~Sarah
thank you so much, sarah!! that is awesome that you’re a golfer too!!! we should play!
I’m in love with that jacket, especially the ruffly collar!
thank you so much, tara!
Such a cute outfit!!!! And I am slightly sad that you don’t like coffee because I love it. But I also LOVE peppermint mochas so we are all good again 😉 LOL Seriously though… I do prefer a side of coffee with my sugar and creamer or chocolate or whatever else they can put in there 😉
thank you so much, rachel!! yeah i just don’t love coffee hahah i have tried it a couple different ways and just can’t get into it
I love that jacket! There’s a lot you don’t know about me – since we’ve just met. So, I’ll start you off small…
If I could be a student for the rest of my life I would jump at the chance. This being a grown-up thing and having a job is WAY overrated.
thank you so much, molly (awesome name, btw!) – oh man i loved college too!!! being a student was awesome.
hahahahaha they tried to vote me class clown, but I refused…lol I was not with that – although I can totaly see why they would want to – your outfit is great by the way. Also, I neeeeed to have at least 1 cup of coffee in the morning – only when I am at work – otherwise, I dont crave it.
that is hilarious!! i bet you are hilarious!!
What an adorable Lilly skirt! And I’m not surprised at all that you were class clown because you make me laugh on a regular basis! I can only imagine how much you’d crack me up in person!
-Sharon
thank you so much, sharon!! hahaaha yeah i guess my class clown thing is one of those “if the shoe fits” situations
love the wee pop of colour with the skirt and love the fun facts too. I speak a little bit of Maori and also been learning NZ sign language for the last year as well. Love it. Thanks for your happy contribution to Wardrobe Weds
thank you so much, miriam!! oh wow what is Maori?? i will be honest i have no idea where that language is spoken!
My first car was a SWEET Chevy Camaro convertible and I miss her dearly when I moved onto my sensible Prius. I LOVE your outfit, do you ever have trouble finding boots? i am a wide calf girl and it drives me NUTS!
ohhhh that first car sounds AWESOME. and evani – i have HUGE calves so yes finding boots can be tough for me – i would suggest trying DSW and/or cowboy boots that stretch! 🙂
Your blog design and outfit are just perfect! I love that you were voted class clown. I was voted best laugh, so I guess we were meant to be friends 😉
And I didn’t know you played golf. I’m so jealous. I’m SO terrible at the sport.
xo TJ
thank you so much, tj!! we were TOTALLY meant to be friends!
Such a cute outfit! I love how you made a summer skirt work for fall. And I absolutely HATE black coffee…but give me some sugar and creamer (preferably flavored) and I’m in love. You should try it that way…it basically isn’t coffee anymore after that. 😉
thank you so much, mandy! yeah i did try coffee with cream and whatnot but still couldn’t drink it 🙁
Girl! I am right there with you on the French/Spanish thing. In high school I took two years of French AND two years of Spanish. Then in college I took 2 years of Italian. I don’t remember ANYTHING! It’s terrible!
hahahaha oh man i bet throwing italian in there REALLY messes things up. that is hilarious!
First of all….when are you going to have an “off” day with the outfits….LOVING everything lately. Secondly, I hate coffee too…UGH…so nasty, I just don’t get how people drink it. This post was too much fun!
shanna thank you so much!! you are seriously always so encouraging and your comments make my day, girl. for real. second, SO glad i’m not the only coffee h8r!!
super cute skirt!!
xo,
Sandy
Sandy a la Mode
thanks, sandy!
I love the collar on that coat! So girly and so cute!
Meredith
createthatoutfit.com
thank you so much, meredith!
Molly, your outfit photos lately have been STUNNING! Just wanted to let you know that 🙂 I can totally relate to you on the foreign language thing. I took spanish for about 5 years and can’t remember anything except the general “how are you” “what’s your name” “i’m good” and it’s so embarrassing!
Stephanie
aw wow stephanie thank you so much!! you are so sweet!! 🙂 🙂 so glad i’m not alone!
you are so cute. molly – do you shoot your own photographs with a camera on tripod or do you have a photographer friend that helps you ?
Not Going Out Like That
thank you so much, julie!! 99% of the photos i take i take with a tripod and camera. these happened to be taken by a friend of mine when we grabbed lunch over the weekend 🙂
First of all, adorable outfit – I love the colors together and that jacket is fantastic! Second, I totally had an Escort as my first car too (shared with my sister!), and I took French for 6 years but am terrible at it now too. I really want to get back into re-learning it (and spanish too) actually, I miss knowing another language that well! Something else you might not know about me… I love motown/soul R&B music 🙂
first, thank you, laura!!! 🙂 second, ESCORT TWINS! yes! so many people (i’m finding out today) had escorts for a first car!! third, i love motown too!!!!
Oh my goodness, I rely on coffee to LIVE! 😀 I drink almost 5 cups each morning… it’s bad.
I took Spanish classes for almost 5 years and I can barely introduce myself either! Not to mention I sound ridiculous when I try to do the accent.
LOVE your coat!!
haha you’re like my friends – they drink SO MUCH coffee!! it’s crazy. glad i’m not the only one that can’t speak spanish! 🙂 thanks, megan!
Man, I love that jacket. The ruffly collar is just so cute. I took french for 7 years! And like you, I can’t really remember much. I can say random things like “let’s go to the library” or “I like dogs”. Ha. And my husband loves golfing, he got me into it when we first met. I’m still learning, but it’s really the only sport that I’m willing to do… plus I like driving the golf carts around! 🙂
xo, Yi-chia
Always Maylee
thank you so much, yi-chia!! haha i bet you dress a good golf game! 🙂
Bahaha I did not know about the escort but it makes me happy….. And one thing you might not know is I secretly wanted Class Clown but got Best Dressed instead (in high school and my sorority)….haha love you friend!
Brooke @ what2wear
hahahaha i was voted class clown in my sorority too!! 🙂 🙂 what does that say about us?
French is such a lovely language! I always wished I got a chance to learn it…maybe someday! I love all the camel tones in your outfit today, Molly! Also, I stink at “regular” golf but I’m a mini-golf expert!
Alyssa
The Glossy Life
thank you so much, alyssa!! haha the irony is i am actually REALLY bad at mini-golf!!
Aw! My fist car was a ’98 black Ford Escort. It, sadly, died earlier this year (the engine dramatically blew up). We drove that thing into the ground!!
my escort died in similar fashion, too!!! maybe it’s an escort thing?
Haha! Thanks for sharing, Molly! I took 4 years of French in high school and don’t remember A THING sadly!
hahaha we’re in the same boat, then! 🙂 🙂
Haha.. I love posts like this. I envy your ability to golf… my husband would probably fall in love with me all over again if I showed any talent in that sport! Sadly, I don’t. Hmm… something about me? I was Class Clown too (holler!) and I can spin a basketball on my finger for a very long time.
yes!! class clown twins!! and i am SUPER jealous of your basketball spinning talents… i’ve always wanted to be able to do that!
Haha MOLLZIE I love it! My first car was a lapis blue (read: purple) Jeep. My friends all nicknamed it The Barbie Mobile. OMG I wouldn’t be caught dead in that thing now!
a purple jeep?!?! that sounds AWESOME!! 🙂 🙂 i’d drive that thing!
That is pretty rad that you were the captain of the all boys golf team 🙂
Love this little jacket!
Sea and Swank
Ditto on the jacket love!
thanks, girl! 🙂
hahah right? so tough!
thanks, susie!
love the layers and color combo! (and I love brick backgrounds, ha!)
I took Spanish and French too and it totally messed me up. I blame the whole thing on Latin actually! I took Latin in 7th grade b/c it was required, then we moved to a new place and they required students to take Spanish or French in 7th and 8th grade, but I couldn’t do that since I’d had Latin…anyway, it was a mess! Languages and me are like you and coffee, my friend. Oy.
thanks, beth!!
i’m so glad i’m not the only one who mixes those languages up! they’re so similar!!! i really need to get me a Rosetta Stone or something and straighten myself out!
I speak spench/franish too! I took French from 6-12 grade and now I work in a school with primarily Spanish speaking families. I try to speak Spanish and it comes out with a French accent. Oops. Loving your look.
YESSSS! how about we just create our own Spench language? thoughts???? thanks, lindsay!
Ooh! I love the layering and pops of color in this outfit!
I guess there is a TON that you don’t know about me since I’m a new reader and all… but to go along with the theme of your list, I took Spanish classes for a total of eight years (requirement in elem. school, choice for high school and college). I remember how to ask for the location of the bathroom and how to count to ten. Because of our travels, we have a very – very – basic knowledge of the following languages, which all get mixed up when I try to speak: Hebrew, German, French, Russian, Hawaiian (?).
And coffee? Girl, I don’t know HOW you don’t like it, but DC is a good substitute.
Guten tag!
first, thank you so much, whitney!!
second, hahaha i would LOVE to hear a sentence mixed with Hebrew, German, and Russian. That would be awesome!
third, i know, right? everyone always thinks i’m nuts – but hey, it works for me! 🙂
Ha – how can you live without coffee??? You are too cute! You wouldn’t know that I won first place in a pie eating contest in high school (and will never eat banana cream pie ever again)
XO
Pearls & Paws
hahaha Diet Coke is my coffee replacement! 🙂 hahaha that is awesome! i can’t say i’ve ever won a pie eating contest!
my first car was a ford escort too–which went through 4 accidents! lol
built Ford tough, right?!
Me amiga, como estas? Que pasa!?(I still remeber that one, we thought we were so smart and use to yell Que Pasa to each in school. such dorks.) Yikes, it has been too many years for me! I took five years of Spanish and then got fairly fluent, but as the saying goes, use it or lose it. (I was always pretty bad about my sentence structure, that took me a long time to learn!) But its okay about the fanish, I speak a mangle version of English where I combine words all the time. (I think the worst time was when I asked some on if they wanted Hammon, when I meant to ask if they wanted Salmon or Halibut. Awful.)
Whew, I always get so off track on my comments on your outfits, it must be because you make me feel so chatty and stuff. (It’s that friendly personality of yours!) I would like to say that if I had pintrest, I would totally pin this outfit. I am CRAZY about those shorts and somehow the brown tights under them with those boots just makes for the coolest chic look! That paisley pattern is lovely and I love the green color.
ahaha first HAMMON?! that is hilarious!! love it!! use it or lose it is right!
second, thank you so much!! paisley is a favorite pattern of mine! 🙂
