I am not normally an impulse buyer… at all, really. Even if I see a piece in a store I like or online, I wait. I wait till it goes on sale or I wait till the initial “WOW!” has worn off and I decide I don’t really want it, or whatever. Needless to say, I wait.
However, I saw this chevron top at Fedora Boutique in Carrboro last week and I didn’t pass go, I didn’t collect $200, I bought that thing. ON THE SPOT. I feel in chevron-y blouse lurve.
And then I had this (READ: THRIFTED!) super fun velvet peplum jacket in burgundy / oxblood / bordeaux / wine and knew they were a match made in trendy-color-name-heaven.
Can we talk about that for a second, BTW? Like, really fashion world? I love how everyone is all like bitcoin online casino bonuses, “The new hot color this season is BORDEAUX / OXBLOOD.” And I’m all over here like, “Uhhh, that mess is burgundy. And burgundy has been around as long as I can remember. I mean, check with Crayola. It’s been around.”
They’re like, trying to make “fetch” happen or something. Quick! Name that movie!
But in all seriousness, I wanna know when “Burnt Sienna” is going to be the hot new color of the season.
What crayon color do you want to be a “fashion trend” one day?
Your jacket is simply DARLING! So cute.
Myah
Burnt sienna was my favorite crayon! Lol…this chevron blouse is so stinkin cute.
Mean Girls! Also, I love that “shade” too, and always refer to it as Burgundy!
I am loving the chevron blouse in both posts! Great purchase, very versatile & looks fabulous on you 🙂
LOVE your blog!!
New follower for sure!
Follow me back?
thank you so much for following, Kimberly!! love your blog, girl!
Totally loving your burgundy chevron top! Not a fan of oxblood – who wants to be wearing blood on them?! Love periwrinkle – it just sounds so pretty and girly 🙂

Cute cute cute! Those chevrons were made for layering!!!

LOVE that top! 🙂 And girl, burgundy was one of my wedding colors way back in 1999. It was in then too. Although at least we had the sense not to call it by the name of a bodily fluid. Geez.
And while I will happily wear most colors of the rainbow (except orange) I just don’t think I can get behind burnt sienna. How about blue violet? 🙂
Love the shirt. It is super cute. I am not impulse buyer either, but it appears that sometimes they pay off 🙂
I love your chevron top and your hair is just so cute 🙂
Love the chevron shirt, no wonder you did an impulsive purchase!

Love, love, love, love, LOVE! I prefer wine related names for this color (oxblood is so disturbing), but whatever you call it, it’s lovely on you!!! And can I just say, you have been rocking some seriously yummy arm parties lately, Molly! ~Sarah
Oh, how I love chevron! This top is great!
Very nice. Wait until you see my deep red chevron infinity scarf…Mwahahhahahahaha….
WHAAAT?! oh i can’t wait!
I would love to have something in raw umber. It just sounds rugged yet romantic. As in, “This is my raw umber dress and I wear it on romantic picnics that take place on mountain tops.”
I also find “ox blood” an incredibly disturbing visual. I’m glad my burgundy jeans were called “fig.” Fig is a heck of a lot more pleasant than ox blood.
Hahaha Burnt Sienna. Brings me back to my elementary school days when I obsessively kept all my crayola crayons in rainbow color order! Whatever color you want to call it, I love the chevron top!
Cute chevron top Molly… love it!
Ha ha ha, I just watched Mean Girls on the weekend for like the 50th time! So glad you were impulsive because I’m madly in love with your top! The colour is so pretty and I love the print! I’m really in love with this entire outfit. All of your accessories are perfection!

I love that jacket over the chevron top! The color is so pretty!

and I love your thrifted coat, so perfect! I’ve wondering about the whole Oxblood thing, as if it’s a new color or something!
Love the Mean Girls reference 🙂 And I totally agree…it’s MAROON or BURGUNDY people! Anyway, the color looks gorgeous on you, and I love it with those gold sparkly flats!

This look is AWESOME! The colors match perfectly! Awesome look.
Very cute. I LOVE your accessories & shoes 🙂

That chevron top is so cute! I would’ve bought it immediately too 🙂 I think it’s ridiculous that they come up with new names for colors that already existed every year. And love the Mean Girls reference!

Great purchase with that thrifted jacket – I love it!! and the shirt is amazing – glad you didnt pass that one.
Haha, I totally agree. Who wants to wear oxblood!? It’s burgundy! They do this every year, they pick a color that has been around since forever and just re-name. You can’t blame them, there are only so many colors to choose from. Love your chevron top. It’s SO FETCH! 🙂

You look so “fetch” Currently, on my person, I have an Everly chevron blouse c/o Pink and Blue boutique! Love it!
Thank you!! I’ve been thinking that all season. Who wants to say ‘I’m wearing oxblood” anyway?
Cerulean. Definitely cerulean. If not because it’s pretty, then because the name is crazy.
I was SO going to say cerulean!
hahahahaha totally forgot about that color. hilarious!
Oh my gosh, girl! I love this outfit from top to toe! You were right to snag that chevron top! Fab! (And I agree with you about the oxblood, burgundy, wine color name! Funny!)
Your slippers are like a modern take on what Cinderella would wear. Love it!

Thank you so much, Suzanne!
Gretchen “fetch” is not a word…….. Bahahahaha. Agreed, burgundy was one f my sororities colors so I have loved it for years so I got a little upset when the fashion world claimed it haha!! Lurving thy velvet jacket lady!!!
Brooke @ what2wear
I really like the jacket- how awesome is it that you got it at a thrift store!?
I know, right?! I was pumped about the find!!
Love your chevron top and your arm party is gorgeous!!! Not to mention those fabulous flats… and I HATE the name oxblood… ish!

Oh I LOVE this chevron top. Glad you scooped it up 🙂
Molly, I am loving your new hair! And the lighting/color in these pictures is gorgeous – how did you do it? Such a fabulous top! And when “burnt sienna” rolls around, I’m all over it!
thank you SO much, bonnie!!! it’s all that North Carolina weather and light, i tell you 🙂
Bwwwaha, Fetch! I’ve been thinking the same thing, you get serious points for working in Mean Girls and Anchorman references in the same week. (And really, how weird is it that the same color gets renamed every single winter? True oxblood is more of a reddish brown, it’s not burgundy!)
This velvet blazer is so pretty, I love the thick waistband and the peplum flare, it’s really gorgeous looking. Whoops, I mean it’s so very “fetch.”
Yeah, I don’t understand the whole oxblood thing either. It’s burgundy in my book! I think Robin’s Egg Blue needs to be a trend! It’s such a pretty shade that I think would be great for spring!
