I’ve probably taken those Myers Briggs tests 20 times in my life or so. For the first part of my life, I always registered as an extrovert. But, as I’ve gotten older, I’m more and more registering as an introvert. The last time I took the test I was an INFJ and honestly, I think that’s pretty dang accurate.
I mean, I’m definitely an extroverted person in that I have no problem meeting people or talking to strangers or putting myself out there. But when it comes down to where I “draw my energy” from, without a doubt, I’m an introvert.
I’d much rather spend the night in watching a good movie or reading a good book than anything else. If I’m feeling drained or I’m feeling like I need an energy boost – that usually means I need a nap or just some solo-quiet time.
I also have absolutely no shame in going to a restaurant or a movie by myself. Does that make me weird? Ah, whatever.
What about you? Where do you draw your energy from? Have you ever taken those “personality” tests? Would you go to a movie or restaurant alone?
Never thought you’d read about my personality type in a post that also contains photos of a super frat-tasticly preppy outfit. Am I right?
Just a random thought.
Linking up today with The Pleated Poppy, Wardrobe Wednesday, and Random Wednesday with Shanna.
i lalalaLOVE that monogram clutch! so darn chic.
First of all, I love this look!!! Second of all, I am 100% an extrovert….no doubt about it. This was fun reading.
I’m an introvert. I always have been., although I think if I took this test again now I might be a bit less of an introvert. Through my adulthood, I have had to push myself in social situations to act with confidence and kick my shyness to the curb. But at the end of the day, I still need a lot of me time to reflect and process. I love people, I’m super friendly, etc., socializing just takes more out of me mentally, if that makes any sense.
amen to that, niki! i am the SAME way!!!
I’m an INFJ too! I love taking all kinds of personality tests. I have no problem going places alone, which turned out to be great when I was going into college because it let me meet so many people and make friends who enjoyed the same things I did. Nothing wrong with enjoying spending time alone though. 🙂

oh girl i feel you, mary!!
Argyle and a monogrammed clutch – I am in LOVE lady!
I am hands down an extrovert – I like to be surrounded by people and don’t even know what to do with myself when I find alone time (never been to a solo movie either). I usually get ENFJ but the N and S are often switched. I really like taking personality tests, reading about that personality’s traits, and then learning more about myself…
Happy New year Miss Molly!
xx
Here&Now
It has been quite a while since I’ve taken one of those test, but I can say that I’m more likely (and have) gone to a movie by myself. I’ve only gone out to eat by myself once. I’m not sure what that says about me 🙂
Love the blog and as always the outfit is super cute.
thanks, shawn! <3 <3 hahah i go out to eat alone all the time. i'm weird! Lol
I haven’t taken one of those test in a long time, now I want too!
LURVE that blazer!!
Hello!
Cute outfit!!

thank you, carissa!
I agree, I love my solo time. It’s what keeps me sane!
Love the outfit, you look so polished.

thank you, myah!!
love that clutch it’s fab. I am a REAL extrovert. Sometimes I long for down time alone but I find people incredibly energising. Happy New Year and thanks for being a part of Wardrobe Wednesday this week. :o)
Loving your neutral preppy look!
And I am (and always have been) a total introvert with virtually no extrovert tendencies. I LOVE going to a restaurant by myself and reading my book and enjoying my meal (something I haven’t gotten to more than a couple of times since my kiddo was born!)
oh girl me too!! i love those times alone!
I’ve totally taken those personality tests. I haven’t taken one though since I first got out of college so I actually wonder how different (or the same?) it would be now!
Great outfit. Love the argyle.
xo,
nancy
you should definitely take one again! my has changed a lot in the last few years since college
I love all of the layers in this outfit Molly. So pretty.

I’m an introvert too. If I have a particularly busy time, I need some quiet time alone to recharge. It’s funny because my sister is a total extrovert and she doesn’t understand how I can stay in all the time. Meanwhile, I get tired just thinking about all the social gatherings she goes to!
#1 these photos are gorgeous! They are perfectly crystal clear. Hubby is still working on making my photos clear. He will get it one day 🙂
Also, I too an technically and introvert. Though people are always shocked by this. I crave my time alone and usually shy away from social situations at all costs hahaha. But I do like people. I just prefer to be with myself.
people are always shocked to find out i’m an introvert too!! but yes i CRAVE alone time!
I’ve always been a near perfect split on the I/E spectrum, because while I love people and love spending time with them, as an Aspie, it’s quite draining on me, and when I’m socialed out, I become very grouchy and need a fair amount of alone time to reset. I last registered on the Meyers – Briggs as an ENFP, and that I feel is pretty consistent with my personality.
i totally know what you mean, jim. i like being around people, but i get to a point where i am PEOPLED out.
I posted a comment on your Instagram, but I just love how rich and classic this outfit is. You could wear it again in 15 years with a tweak here or there and it would still be perfectly in style.
I can’t remember exactly where I fall on that test, but I usually land in the “E” category. This is different from my childhood when I was happy spending hours in my room alone with a book. I still enjoy a good book, but now I need to be around people to feel energetic and at my best. Amazing how we can change in these ways, isn’t it? ~Sarah
oh totally!! i have changed SO much in this area in the last 10 years
Gosh, I’m totally the same way… Dustin calls me an “extroverted introvert.”
Looks like you’re really “growing into” your hair – does that make sense? Like, learning how to style it, etc. I really love the shorter, fresh look on you. More importantly, I love that you were able to donate those gorgeous locks. Love you, friend. 🙂
Love argyle! Very pretty! Oh, and I definitely gave you a shout-out today on the blog since you were (inadvertently) instrumental in my recent purchase of glittery flats. My husband didn’t like them until I showed him how you wore them 🙂
yes! saw the post, ashley! LOVEEEED it! thank yoU!
So cute as always – I can’t get enough of that blazer! I think I’ve definitely become more of an introvert over the years too … love quiet nights spent at home.
Sea and Swank
This is definitely a super frat-tasticly awesome outfit! I kind of feel like I’m somewhere in between, but if I had to lean towards one side, I think I’m more of an introvert. I’ve never done the restaurant or movies alone thing before though!
xo, Yi-chia
Always Maylee
Oh I am definitely an introvert! It works out well, since my hubby is an extrovert and he talks to people enough for the both of us 🙂

I see mostly women post replies here, but I couldn’t help but notice from Instagram your comment about introversion. I’m an INTJ (the I is far away from the middle) and I’ve know it for a long time. Your comments about needing along time to re-energize are right up my alley. It’s interesting, though, that you post pictures of yourself with the clothes and accessories. I act in stage productions. I’ve heard it said that introverts make the best actors. Perhaps we “act” in a lot of situations. I enjoy your Instagram pics – and now, your blog. Keep up the good work.
haha i do have a lot of men that read this blog – they just don’t comment 🙂 🙂 i really appreciate your comment, frank!! and yes i totally know what you mean. thank you so so so much, frank!!
Love your blazer and clutch! Super cute Molly! 🙂
I’m seriously obsessed with that clutch! I’ve got it on my “to buy” list. 🙂
Love this outfit!
I’ve come out ESTJ since high school. I’m completely on the line for E/I and T/F. The other two are extreme. The older I get, the more I know myself. Just this week among 1000 people for days, I needed alone time. The test for E/I at this moment? I needed about 15 minutes. An introvert would need a lot more.
I actually love taking personality tests, although I can’t say I’ve ever had one that I felt was totally accurate. But maybe that’s just me being stubborn! Love that monogrammed clutch, by the way. So classic! Happy 2013, Molly!

The Glossy Life
I go to movies alone!! I usually enjoy it more (because no one is whispering in my ear their comments)!!! 🙂
yes!! best benefit to watching a movie alone.
I’m definitely an E, but I travel a lot for work. I’m totally comfortable (and have come to really enjoy) doing things like heading to a movie, eating dinner, or going to a museum on my own.
I’m pretty sure the last time I took the Myers-Briggs I was an ENTP but I was so close to an ENFP that’s really a draw.
LOVE this look! LOVE the clutch. Think I’m going to get it as a gift for my sister.
I’m a total ENFJ!
I love taking personality tests! I think I’ve always registered as an introvert, which would not surprise me at all. To me, time alone is the best way to recharge and stay balanced. During the holidays, I was way too “peopled” out. I didn’t leave the house for five days after Christmas, and it was glorious! My sanity has been restored … which wasn’t much to start with, haha!
This is such a great Ivy League look. You pull it off so well 🙂
thanks, mia!
In love with this blazer and really, the whole look. Love it. I took the test over the summer and I’m an ISFJ. So accurate on my part as well. I would much rather spend a Friday night at home than out with a bunch of strangers. Perhaps its a sign of maturity?
absolutely a sign of maturity, i believe!! we mature and change and that’s just life
My husband and I have been listening to an amazing book being an introvert as we both are. I however am a talkative introvert as when I am comfortable with you I can’t shut up. ;). I has done so much for my 5year old knowing what she needs as she is an introvert as well. I have a draft started about it too!!
Ps I love the blazer!!
Hailey
thank you so much, hailey!! what book is that? i’d love to read it!
The last time I took the MB I was an INFJ also! I love interacting with people but it definitely drains me. Nothing like some quiet time at home with a cup of coffee and a good magazine to get me going again. 🙂 Can’t say I love eating out etc. alone though…I’m so self conscious about stuff like that. I always feel like everyone is staring at me… LOL 🙂 Love this outfit…very preppy chic!
I have always been an introvert all the way. Meeting my husband really helped my social skills because he is an extrovert all the way. I think having a little bit of both is a good balance though. Also, love the look. I thought the turtle neck and vest was one piece until I finished reading. Super cute, I always like neutrals!!
I used to be a serious extrovert but after having doodle I am most definitely an introvert! I’ve definitely eaten at restaurants and gone to movies by myself (pre-doodle, moms don’t really get to go to the movies haha!). Ps I lurve that clutch 🙂
Brooke @ what2wear
I am most positively an extrovert. I definitely draw my energy from other people. Don’t get me wrong I REALLY enjoy my alone time..especially with two kids. But that is down time. When I need my mood lifted or energy to be recharged I need to be around others. ohhh and I would also go out every night of the week if I could…well maybe 4 nights..unless there is a Ryan Gosling movie marathon on 🙂

Molly, oh my gosh…I was JUST having these thoughts. I feel like I’m the same exact way. I need to take this test and find out.
You? An introvert? I wouldn’t have guessed that! I’m an ENFJ – similar but definitely an extrovert. If I’m grumpy, I probably need to do something social. 🙂 I agree though that there is nothing wrong with going to a movie or a restaurant by yourself. I do it a lot!
And I love this preppy look. Classy!
The Blue Hour
i know, shocking, right?! everyone is always like WHAT?! but yep. super introverted!
I’m definitely an introvert too, a textbook case really. Currently, I’m reading a super interesting book by Susan Cain, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking. You should check it out!
thank you for the recommendation brittany!! i definitely will check it out!
I SO need a blazer! Yours is fab!
xoxo
hm.. when was the last time i wore a turtle neck?? so cute on you ms molly. hope you had a fantastic new years!
haha thanks, meg!!
i’m the same…not afraid to meet new people and eat by myself…but i definitely draw my energy from alone time (perhaps it’s the only child thing).
I’ve gone the other direction; I started out INTJ with a REALLY strong I (90-some percent), but I discovered early when trying to build a career that being introverted was not helpful. Over the years I’ve TAUGHT myself to be more extroverted, and most people perceive me as an extrovert. The questions that ask about BEHAVIOR now come out pointing to extraverted, but the energy questions stay the same and keep pointing to introvert.
I still test as an INTJ, and it’s still very accurate. Parties are still work, although I have no problems speaking in front of crowds or teaching classes; I just need recharge time after it’s over. I need quiet time to recharge.
amen to that. i have definitely had to force myself to be outgoing in certain situations- but that quiet time is NECESSARY for me to feel sane
Love the sweater! Great clutch too!

i too waver between being an introvert and an extrovert (always scoring ENFP/INFP) and likely for the same reasons. this has been such a struggle for me as i’ve gotten older and entered a state of unstable mental health due to my anxiety and depression. since graduating college last May, i’m beginning to see a shift again in where i draw my energy, so i look forward to take the test in six months to see where i fall!
introverts are such misunderstood people. no one ever taught us it was okay to want to be alone sometimes.
thanks for sharing, molly!
