Things That Make Me Happy + 13 Weeks
Have you entered the giveaway for a custom necklace from Reformed Redhead yet? Go! Enter!
I don’t think there has ever been a week where I’m like, “Oh, it’s just Friday.” I’m like WAHOO! IT’S FRIDAY, Y’ALL!
Anyway. Here are some things that make me happy this week (and my 13 week update at the bottom!):
1. I am SO excited to go have a little mini stay/vacation with this hunky man this weekend. We got a gift for Christmas to stay at a fancy, fancy inn in town and so we’re gonna dress to the nines and have a much needed date night tomorrow. I can’t wait!
2. I love my friend Emily. If you’ve read this blog before, you are no stranger to Emily. I threw her baby shower and took her maternity portraits and took her sweet family portraits all this year. So she’s been on the blog before. 🙂 But, I’d be remiss if I didn’t formally introduce her to you guys. She has a BLOG and it’s awesome.
This woman is not only BEAUTIFUL outside (I mean, look at her!) but she is beautiful inside. She inspires me so much. She lives every single day and every single moment for the Lord and I look up to her so much.
She LIVES and loves to use the gifts that God has given her and lives it all out through her blog. Seriously. She is amazing. Also, homegirl can SING. No, but for real. She can SING. Emily has PIPES.
Enough rambling, Emily blogs about her family, her husband, her gorgeous daughter Austyn, and her life. Check her out!
[Blog | Facebook | Twitter]3. + 4. I’m going to go ahead and use pregnancy as an excuse… but the following two images of delicious treats have been my WEAKNESS this week. Icees + S’mores Pop Tarts. Yeah. Healthy, I know.
5. 13 weeks!
Here’s my current pregnancy update:
How far along: 13 weeks!
How big is baby: A peach – 3 inches.
Weight gain: Only around a pound I think. Maybe not even. It’s hard to tell since I LOST weight in the 1st trimester.
Sleeping: It’s been better the last few days, only waking up 2 or 3 times instead of like 6 or 7 (no joke). This past weekend was AWFUL, but I’ve slowly been improving. Most likely because I’m SO tired I just crash.
Food cravings: Still salty. And Jersey Mike’s. Ohhhh Jersey Mike’s. Love those subs. (Don’t worry, I microwave the deli meat)
Food aversions: Still want nothing to do with Chick-Fil-A. My sweet tooth is also declining. I don’t want chocolate at all, and beyond the occasional lollipop, sweets make me nauseous. (Except S’more’s Pop Tarts and Icees. Weird, I know.)
Symptoms: This has been a tough week – if I’m just being real. I’m not going to go into TMI details, but I developed a few other symptoms that were, let’s say, NOT FUN to deal with. I’m slowly on the mend and praying these new symptoms are gone soon. Also still sleepy.
Doctor’s appointment: My 14 week visit is next week, but I’ve been to the doctor twice this week for the other stuff. Got to hear baby’s heartbeat which always makes me happy!
Movement: None yet. But, according to the doctor, baby likes to hang out on my right side of my belly. Weird detail, I know. But I figured it’s at least worth noting.
Names: I made the joke that I wanted to name our son Dieter (pronounced “Deetah”) if it was a boy. John said OKAY as long as we can name a girl “Dixie.” We are back to square one. Not that there’s anything wrong with the name Dixie, I’m just not a fan for my own child.
Best moment of the week: Doing some more pre-planning of the nursery. We finally decided on a gender neutral theme that isn’t green and yellow! OH MAN I AM EXCITED!
What I’m looking forward to: Doctor’s appointment next week!
What I did / Got for baby: Technically my husband did the most of it, but we pretty much have all the closets cleaned out and we are almost at that stage where we could start to prep the nursery. Baby steps, y’all (no pun intended). Oh! And we went to a BABY store for the first time! 🙂 So much fun.
What I learned this week: I mentioned last week that I am interested in doing natural labor and I’ve learned some more this week about the Bradley Method (it’s basically husband-coached birth) which I’m looking into. I’m just trying to do my research. 🙂
Prayer requests: Still needing energy. And, again, I hate being on the vague-train, but I just don’t feel comfortable going into details about this week, but let’s just say, pray that the medicine the doctors put me on help with some of these new symptoms and that all is well by next week! And of course, just continued prayer for the health and strength of the babe. YAY!
Happy Friday!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! So exciting and such a blessing!

Thank you so much, girl!
I really liked The Bradley Method. We are hoping to attend classes on it if there’s ever another blessing for us 🙂 As far as a natural birth, I don’t know what your hospital/birth center allows but using Essential Oils can be really helpful during birth! If you ever want any more info on that let me know. I wish I would have known about it with Titus.
i am definitely trying to do as much research as i can – i feel like there’s so much information out there it’s almost overwhelming!
I hope you start feeling better soon and that your meds work well!!! You are such a beautiful momma! And I LOVE s’mores pop tarts!

Molly,
Be prepared…everyone who has ever given birth is going to feel free to share their birth stories, horrors and advice for the next 28 weeks!! That being said, here is mine! Read “the Birth Book” by The Sears’. Best info I ever read.
hahahah too late! it’s already happening. people LOVE sharing that stuff! LOL!
Man I haven’t had an Icee in forever! I hope you feel bunches better real quick!!!! Enjoy your weekend vacation.
thank you so much, meagan!
I love the bradley method and natural birth is amazing! I have lots of recs about it and advice if you want it : ) The exercises to help prepare of some of the other suggestions during labor really helped! I read 11 childbirth books before Avery because I am crazy but happy to share them with you!! I will be praying that all of your other symptoms are taken care of. Love you! Let me know if you want to talk or if there is anything I can do to help!
thank you SO much, ash! i know i will have 100000 questions for you!
First of all, congratulations! Pregnancy is such an amazing time. I was lucky enough to really enjoy mine and feel wistful whenever I see a pregnant lady.
I really recommend reading Hypnobirthing. My husband and I both read it in preparation for a med free labor. (Unfortunately it didn’t happen for us because my labor was so so long- over 40 hours from water breaking to Linus’ arrival, but I did avoid an epidural.) The book was really interesting and helpful to both of us. It makes a big to-do of not using any other methods because it contaminates you or something, but I say that’s poppycock 😉 Arm yourself with information. Be prepared for you and your husband to advocate for you and be prepared to change plan if need be.
Good luck!
thank you so much, meg!! 🙂 and thank you so much for the recommendation! it helps to get as much information as possible.
Can’t wait to check out Emily’s blog 🙂 and I’m so happy you guys get a night out- enjoy! Hang in there, it really does get better in the 2nd trimester!
she is the sweetest. thank you so much, beth!
The other day I was thinking about how all I wanted was poptarts and I don’t know if I’ve ever even bought them before but plan on it!! We went to the baby store last weekend too – it was SO fun!! a little overwhelming but SO fun!! and I’m impressed you’re already cleaning out closets and getting ready – we haven’t done a thing!!
yeah i was SO overwhelmed in the store – i don’t even know where to start!!
Praying for you girl. And the icee thing is cracking me up because my sister has been craving those too. What is it I wonder?? So happy for the two of you. Have fun this weekend.
thank you so much, elise!! 🙂
I am going to check out Emily! I hope you and your little peach have a great weekend 🙂

Molly, I miss you beautiful friend, and could not be more excited for you and your hubby on your new addition to your family. Aaahahhhh congrats!!!! I’m so behind on blogging right now, but I’ll definitely be tuning in frequently to hear about EVERYTHING!
aww bonnie thank you SO MUCH!!!
Pre-planning for the nursery is very exciting. I think all mothers do.
It’s something very special to most parents because it’s a place for your precious little one.
I am excited to know your plans for the nursery.
Good Luck
thank you so much, maris!
