Lace + White, 5 Things, + Two Places

My quick “discussion,” if you will, about this outfit is – I love white on white. I love lace and white. I don’t love that my closet is shrinking by the day. BUT, I will say that I LOVE that this baby is growing (rapidly, I might add) and that I’m so blessed to take care of it during this time. It’s also forcing me to be A LOT more creative with my closet. Practice makes perfect, y’all.

Now, I haven’t done a random facts in a while, and well, there’s no time like the present, amiright?!

Five Random Facts About Me:

  1. I am a HUGE Cleveland sports fan. Cleveland Browns are my number one, Cleveland Indians come in close second, and Cleveland Cavaliers in third. BUT, I have never lived in Cleveland in my life. My dad and his family are from Cleveland, so I was basically brainwashed from the time I was a baby to be a Cleveland fan. I guess my dad wanted me to know what pain and suffering was my whole life. 🙂 Just kidding!
  2. I learned to drive (on a stick shift!) at age 10. Since my mom was sick when I was younger, it was primarily for safety in case anything were to ever happen and I would need to drive my mom to the hospital. But also, my dad wanted me to make sure I could drive anything. I have also driven a trailer and a 28′ motor home.
  3. I LOVE the beach but I am terrified of the ocean. Whenever I go to the beach, I basically stick my toes in, but I go no further than that. I had a traumatic experience getting sucked under by a wave when I was a kid that made me scarred for life. PLUS, I am terrified of jellyfish / sharks / anything that could eat me alive. I don’t mind water that is clear where I can see what is around me, but if I can’t see what’s around me, FORGET IT.
  4. If you know me, you already know this, but if you’re new here or don’t really know me, you wouldn’t know that I used to be a comedian. I mean, I kind of still am, but like, I used to perform ALL the time. I primarily did sketch and improvisational comedy – but I did dabble in standup for a while. I performed and wrote comedy for over 12+ years. Yep, I started young. I only stopped doing it regularly a little over a year ago and it was honestly because I was so tired and kinda burnt out. So now I just perform occasionally for fun. I do still miss it sometimes!
  5. I’m related to Pocahontas. Yeah, THE Pocahontas. She’s technically my maternal 14th great-grandmother. How do I know this? Well, my great aunt on my mom’s side used to be a genealogist, did a family history, and discovered that when Pocahontas left America and went to Europe with John Rolfe, she traveled around and, uhh, “made friends” with some men. One of whom happened to be the mayor of a city in Ireland (where my family is from) and boom, a child was born. And 14 generations later, I came along. Crazy, right? Yeah, so random.

  11. LOVE this post. You look so pretty and I love that you are an epic driver! I am the opposite. I haven’t driven a car since I went to grad school — so that is about 4 years of no driving! I too love the beach but don’t do the ocean. Mostly because I can’t really swim. lol

Your random facts are awesome – especially the fact that you have a relative who did so much research on your family history! So cool! One of my random facts is that I’m the only left handed person in my family. Nobody knows where my lefty-ness came from! =)

  16. I love the outfit and the clutch! I have the same water phobia, but for an entirely different reason. People think I’m crazy for not getting in the water, but if I’m not sure what else is in there I’m not taking any chances! 🙂

  20. I LOVE random facts! My random fact is also genealogy related. I’m related to George Clymer, only one of five to sign both the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Woop woop for history!!

  23. No way, you are related to Pocahontas?? That is the MOST random thing I have seen all day! And I can totally see you doing stand up!! That takes some serious bravery and skills!! 😉 And that bump…I could just stare at it! Does that sound weird? LOL.

  27. I love all of the bright accessories on the basic wardrobe back drop you have going on here. Hm, one random fact about me: I’m really afraid of deer–I hit one with my car in high school and it was really traumatizing!

  29. I’m the SAME way with the beach/ocean!!! LOVE the beach but I’m terrified of the ocean. Never used to be. I used to jump waves when a storm was coming down in Florida with my dad. Then I went to a beach up here (in MA) a couple years ago. The current was strong and there were even rip tide warnings. I was getting out of the water and got smacked down by a wave. My feet came right out from under me and I went topsy-turvy-loop-de-loop at least four times. I was petrified. Had no idea which way was up or down. I swallowed a lot of water, got some sand in places one should never get sand, even ate some of it, and sliced my big toe open (I have a scar). My 10-year-old cousin (she’s fearless) is the one that wound up pulling me out. Ever since then, I have a near panic attack about physically going in the ocean. I’ll walk on the beach, get my feet wet, but I’m much happier reading on the beach. I’m better with the pool, because, like you, I can see everything, and there’s no waves. But I don’t go under anymore. I think it has something to do with the water being over my head and all up in my face. But the ocean is a very strong force, and I’m itty-bitty, I just don’t see that we’re a good fit 😛

    Love those target flats, I’ve almost purchased them a million times but the idea of glitter everywhere in my house has stopped me…but they are SO cute!!

  34. OMG how alike are we?! It’s freaky. I got sucked under by a wave once too and it has really traumatized me. I’m actually terrified of not being able to breathe in general, and I’m even more terrified of waves when I’m in the ocean. I went in on our honeymoon on a particularly windy day and it happened to me AGAIN. I freaked out so bad! Anyway, I LOVE this outfit and your photos!!! Love the color in that bag too!

  37. Omg! I am also related to Pocahantas! My mom found the relation on her mom’s side through ancestry.com recently. My grandma’s mom was half Cherokee Indian. We are long lost relatives 🙂

  39. Love the white on white lace! The only random fact that I can think of is that I married a twin and twins run in my family, so here’s to hoping that little gem skips me and goes to one of my cousins.

  45. I am learning to love white on white. It wasn’t so flattering on me at one time. Yours looks wonderful, but it could also be that glow 🙂

    I also love your random facts. I remember you mentioning the comedy thing before and the more I read, it doesn’t really surprise me. I get the ocean thing as well. I’m not scared of it, but I can see how one would be. My thing is grasshoppers (or anything else insect-ish that can jump and fly, but mainly grasshoppers). I like them better from a distance.
