For Style or For Comfort?

Something that has long been debated in the “fashion” world – or I guess I should really say the general world – is “What is, ultimately, more important? Style or comfort?”
Now, the truth is, this answer is going to be different for pretty much everyone. Some women will say STYLE and say that till they are blue in the face, while others will defend COMFORT till they’re blue in their Danskins.
It’s one of those “issues” that clearly is a non-essential issue, but still one that is interesting to be discussed or debated.
Me? Honestly? I tend to stand on the side of COMFORT. Sure, I have a few dresses that I absolutely LOVE that I can’t for the life of me breathe in or sit comfortably in. Sure, I have a few pair of stilettos that are comfortable for about the first 0.8 seconds and then I want to cut my feet off because cutting my feet off would be less painful than the pain I experience in those shoes. Sure, I have a few pair of earrings that are HUGE and hurt my ears after wearing them for longer than 15 minutes.
But, I would say, unless it is some super special occasion where the STYLE option really outweighs the COMFORTABLE option, I’m pretty much going to choose the latter every time. But, I will say, that I try very, very hard not to sacrifice style for comfort. But, that’s not to say that I haven’t before, because I certainly have.
Thankfully, this outfit fits, in my humble opinion, into BOTH categories – comfort AND style. Or style AND comfort. But that’s neither here nor there. The crazy comfortable striped maxi skirt, the comfortable tank top, the closet staple jean jacket, and my favorite Rainbow flip-flops – with their powers combined – they produce a comfortably stylish outfit. No?
Seriously though, those pieces that you come across that fit into both categories are, in my humble opinion, what you call the FASHION JACKPOT. And those pieces should be bought in every color. Or something.
So, what about you? Do you go for comfort or style? Do you sacrifice one for the other?
Just wanted to stop by and let you know I featured your blog (and this post) on mine yesterday!

Style. Thought I’ve been trying to make style and comfort live happily together – I think I always thought it was one or the other. In the case of high heels, I’m not sure the two can ever combine, so I’ll take style there, but in clothing, I think you can have comfort and style – you just need to be more cognizant of things you buy!
absolutely!! thank you so much, jamie!
This is SUCH a cute outfit Molly! And I can tell that it is super comfy too. I’m all about looking cute but most days I will choose comfort over fashion…thank goodness most of the time you can have both! 🙂
thank you so much, mandy!!
I choose comfortably stylish! Haha and you epitomize this for me! You look so beautiful and happy in these photos, and I love the pleats at the bottom of the skirt! So pretty!

I love that skirt with the jean jacket, that would be a super cute non-maternity outfit too! I love how your maternity fashion can also be warn if you aren’t pregnant too. You’ve done a super great job! As for me, I think I lean towards style but as soon as I buy something that is super uncomfortable for style, It sits in my closet indefinitely!
thank you so much, rebecca!! that’s been my goal – dressing “pregnant” without like, being too pregnant. lol!
YOu may be dressing for comfort but you look fabulous!!!! Love that maxi skirt. I just bought a maxi dress recently. I’m going to have to get a skirt as well. Dont’ forget to link up today. Maxi skirts are a trend for spring.

I always try to go with comfort AND style, but most of the time, comfort wins out. Thanks for the style inspiration — I have an identical skirt, but I was at a loss for how to wear it. I think I have to get my hands on a jean jacket!
yeah, i am the exact same way. i’m glad you felt inspired!
Might have to try some of those skirts out. I am 15 weeks so things are just beginning to get uncomfortable. You look adorable!
oh megan they are a God-send. seriously! thank you so much!
you know what im going to say…..style! but i think it also depends on where you are in life….people have different phases where they need to be stylish and comfy at the same time. you look supaa stylish 🙂

I am a full time teacher and I always sacrifice comfort for style. I wear high heels 4 out of the 5 week days. But, I cherish my Friday Jeans day because that is when I go for both comfort and style! You look like a rock star in this outfit!

oh girl you are brave!! i would die in heels that often! 🙂 thank you so much, cricket!
I like this tank alot. it is very comfortable for running and doing yoga. However, it was a bit more expensive than I’d care to pay for maternity workout clothes in the future.
