Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for the Expectant Mother-to-Be
Mother’s Day is THIS SUNDAY, y’all. I’m not going to lie, I know so many pregnant people right now it’s almost absurd. I know it’s just that I’m in that stage of life where people are having babies, but seriously, it feels like everyone I know is about to pop out a child.
Anyway, because I know so many people who are pregnant, and well, since I, myself, am pregnant, I thought it might be helpful to put together a little list of ideas of what to get the expectant mother-to-be in your life.
And I have to say this up front… I’ll be honest, when my husband first even quasi-mentioned “What do you get a mom-to-be for Mother’s Day?” I was actually a little taken aback. I hadn’t even considered that a mother-to-be might celebrate this holiday. I mean, I don’t totally feel like a mother yet. I mean, of course I do. I’m literally carrying a child right now, but expectant moms, you know what I mean, right? It’s just not totally real yet. It feels surreal. But I will say, making a baby with your body is TOUGH work. It’s no joke. So yeah, I guess we do deserve a little Mother’s Day loving… Right? Maybe? Anyway. Those are just my thoughts on that.
Now, of course there are the obvious things you should / can get her like:
- Flowers (get her a bouquet of her favorite bloom…. duh :))
- A prenatal massage (not sure what pregnant lady WOULDN’T like that)
- A mani/pedi
- Gift card to get some nice maternity clothes
- A nice, home-cooked, candlelit dinner (you know, the kind where she doesn’t have to make dinner)
All of the aforementioned things are great. Fantastic, even. But there are some other options that may be a little different, unique, or outside of the box.
So, here are some things that might be great gift ideas for that expectant mother-to-be in your life. And yes, a few of these might be subtle hints to my own hubby. 🙂 🙂 Teehee.
Mothers-to-be: you might wanna send this one to your hubby. 🙂 Just saying.
Moms <3 TOMS // Merona Hobo Bag
I LOVE those Moms <3 TOMS shoes. Seriously, how cute are they? And that purple hobo bag? Sure, it’s not a diaper bag, but it’s so stinkin’ cute I can’t handle it. I saw it in Target the other day and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I mean, what mom-to-be wouldn’t feel fab carrying that adorable thing around?

Chevron Reversible Diaper Bag // Chevron Maternity Hospital Gown
Now, get the mom-to-be some adorable, practical things. Maybe she’d love an adorable, smaller, reversible diaper bag? This grey chevron one is reversible with pink giraffe fabric on the other side. So cute! And the next thing is honestly something I legit want – a maternity hospital gown! Now, think about it, when a mama is in the hospital giving birth, looks, often dignity, and “chicness” are thrown out the window. But they don’t HAVE to be. Think about how gross those hospital gowns are that they give you… but this one? These are ADORABLE! And hospital approved. They snap down the back AND snap on the shoulders for easy access. Plus, they’ll make those first few family photos that much cuter,
Baby Sling in Olugendo Print // Nursing Cover in Akaama
I am absolutely in LOVE with everything Tukula makes. Tukula is a fair trade company that produces gorgeous textiles and accessories out of Uganda. They’re working to give women and families a sustainable life. It’s awesome. Anyway, how adorable and SO unique are these slings and nursing covers? I am in LOVEEEEEE.
Kate Spade Diaper Bag // Michael Kors Watch
And lastly, your “splurge” items. I mentioned a few weeks ago how I saved my pennies and bought me my dream Kate Spade diaper bag. I am in love with it. I’m just saying, it would make the perfect gift for a mom-to-be. And the watch? Okay, nothing mother related at all, but it has not-so-secretly been on my wish list for years, and I don’t really know of too many moms-to-be who would turn down such a gorgeous timepiece. 🙂
So yeah, there are just a few ideas!
For all the expectant moms out there who read this blog, what would YOU add to the list? Maybe it’ll spur some other ideas for the dads-to-be out there. 🙂
OMG Im a sucker for Toms shoes. my husband already gets on me because I have more than I actually wear but oh well. He’s a man. what does he know anyway right.. LOL…
I’m going to see if I can somehow cleverly hint to them to buy me these toms. We’ll see since mother’s day is past… But everyday is mother’s day in my book.

Seriously! You gotto add some education to your list – I was just listening to Elaine’s Bookreportradio (dotcom) interview with the author of ‘Healthy Mom Healthy Baby”, and the short of my conclusion (other than the discussion on whether or not it’s alright to have a glass of wine being pregnant), is that education about what’s happening to your body is paramount to an peaceful mind – is invaluable! Give a book, and it’s still relevantly cheap #justsaying
Love the hospital gown! OMGoodness – so adorable. I was not so adorable or lucky to wear a beautiful piece. I got the nice light blue number and a lovely plastic cap to wear in the operating room! I was gorg let me tell ya!

hahaha yeah! this is actually to wear AFTER the baby is born… wouldn’t want it getting all messed up. 🙂 lol!! but still adorable nonetheless. 🙂
That Kate Spade diaper bag is too adorable!
i love it!
love all of these! i want that reversable bag! and those toms!
aren’t they ADORABLE??? i love them!
I hadn’t seen those TOMS <3 great find! and I love those hospital gowns…will have to drop some hints to friends about that 😉
i know!! so cute!!!
oh my goodness, I had never thought about taking your own gown to the hospital – you have to have that chevron number! So fun!
xx
Here&Now
isn’t it adorable? so fun!!!
I love the ideas. Those toms are adorable. But just a random question, is the maternity gown to be worn while you are giving birth or after? Because if it is for during, well, it might not make it to first pictures…just sayin 😉 With my first, I threw up all over myself in the middle of pushing and with my second, she pooped all over me right after she was born. So, though super cute, I would spring for comfy sweat pants and a nursing tank to change into after the baby is born.
hahahaha yeah it’s meant for wearing AFTER… you know, after you get cleaned up and stuff. 🙂 🙂
I got a diaper bag when I was pregnant with Harry. I do have to say, the gown is a little ridiculous, unless you don’t mind throwing away $60. The things that come out of your body during labor…and the weeks following…
hahaha yeah it’s not meant to be worn DURING labor… just more for the time in the hospital and the time at home afterwards. 🙂
i don’t know if i’d risk it. it’s so cute! unless it was in black, then it would hide everything.
true!
Great gift ideas. The massage is by far my favorite!!!!

i know, right? that MK watch is my dream <3 <3 hahaha
These are some good ideas. Whatever the gift is, I think it should be solely for the Mom and not the new baby. It should be all about her on this day.
i like your thinking, crystal!!
