RECIPE: Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza Pasta Casserole
I have been feeling like I’ve been in a cooking rut lately. I know that’s not really the case, but I tend to make the same dishes over and over again. Once I find a dish (or seven) that I like, I end up putting them in rotation.
I really LOVE to cook. I wasn’t always like that… but in the past few years, cooking has become therapeutic for me. I love experimenting with new recipes, new flavors, etc.
Anyway. I was planning on making pizza for dinner last night, but I ended up feeling like that was, again, a food crutch. So I got to thinking. And this is the recipe that I ended up making and it was DELICIOUS! So easy. So delicious. I can’t wait to eat the leftovers of it, too. 🙂
Here’s the recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1lb of ground sausage (I used Johnsonville hot ground sausage)
- 1 box of pasta (I used bowtie pasta)
- 1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce (I used Prego Italian Sausage and Garlic)
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Turkey pepperoni
DIRECTIONS:
In a large pot, cook the box of pasta according to the directions. Drain it and then save about 1/4 – 1/2 cup of the hot water.
In a skillet, brown the sausage and set aside.
Then, in a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, browned sausage, and pasta sauce. Mix it up real good. Then, place in a 13×9″ baking dish.
Cover with the mozzarella cheese and then top with the pepperoni.
Place, uncovered, in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Eat and enjoy!
What about you? What recipes have you tried lately? Will you make this?
That looks awesome!!! Plus it’s only a couple ingredients which are always the best recipes.

Oh my goodness, yes. Um, when can I come over dinner?
A very sneaky way to get my son to eat more pasta…disguised as pizza! You’re a genius!!

Thanks for posting this Molly! My kiddo is a vegetarian so I think I am going to try this with a few veggies instead of the meat – although my hubby would like the meat version! Thanks! Susan
That sounds really yummy and simple! I’ll have to give it a try soon
